1Q84: Books 1, 2 and 3
S**.
Read the book in the span of 6 years, reviews of each book below.
Book 1 (2018)- Now, this was one mind-baffling beginning to a trilogy suffused with mystery, scattered thoughts and relentless actions. Murakami leaves me asunder with his intense, passionate prose. He plucks threads from everyday and weaves it unapologetically into his surreal literature. There are so many knots that have been split apart and left untied in the span of these pages; I cannot wait to get to the other instalments in the upcoming months.Book 2 (2020)-Although I had forgotten quite a judicious amount of character sketches and the storyline, the story didn’t fail to amaze me even after two years. Bringing Aomame and Tengo back to life in this upside down world wasn’t difficult because Murakami’s writing had left an indelible mark right from the first book of this trilogy. On the one hand, Aomame’s life as an assassin continues as she prepares for one of her life-changing cases in this second book of the trilogy. On the other hand, unknown people start entering Tengo’s life as closer ones start to depart, he sees his life change; for better or worse, he is unable to figure out. When reading Murakami, it is better to not expect anything. And I mean it when I say anything, it may have no basis to the reality we are living at all. Peculiar characters, perplexing scenes rich with sex, and the ambiguous representation of our minds through magic realism. Murakami’s existentialist leanings takes the human mind and dissects it into mystifying fragments. When you feel he is trying to offer an explanation of a particular shingle, the author takes it back and knots it further into another neat bun of questions. I felt myself reading and reading and I realised I was getting drawn down into a vortex that kept asking questions and answered none. That could be what Murakami wants through the stories he writes, he wants us to have a look into our minds, notice its depth that will continue to go unravelled and dispute reason and logic to our personalities and outlook to life. I certainly can’t wait to read the last book and finish the series soon, hopefully before two years.Book3 (2022)- After 6 years, I can finally say that I have read 1Q84! I remember having begun it some time in mid-2018, thinking I'd finish it by the end of the year but two years went by until I picked it up again in the middle of the lockdown. I promised to pick it right up in 2021 but two years again passed until I was determined to open the last book and get done with it. And I did! I did not have a hard time getting back to the story. Call it the lasting impression of Murakami's writing, or my retentive memory; I was able to make my way through the last book without much trouble. The threads connecting Tengo and Aomame are finally finding ways to merge, to seek each other through hell and the unknown. And between them is Ushikawa, sharp, intelligent man with a misshapen head and an ugly face, he is determined to trace their steps and get answers for the many stones that have been left upturned throughout the first two books. Now, to be frank, I didn't have a tough time with the writing but I constantly felt myself feeling more and more alienated by his prose. Unlike my previous experiences with the writer, I wasn't charmed, or left spell-bound. It is sad to say but I failed to understand the point in the last instalment. I loved the scenes of everyday life he had conjured, of being alone in a flat, preparing your food, reading, sipping beer, missing a significant other and other such reassuring images of life that continued even when circumstances seemed anything but normal or mundane. There were points that had me on the edge of my seat and I was flew through those parts but mostly, I was comforted and ensconced in the everyday life of the characters as they looked for answers. However, I do not think I was very happy and I think it's the problem with me and not Murakami. It's sad to keep realising, with every book, that I have outgrown him, and that it's good to part ways with him. My dear Murakami, you have been a good good friend, and you have bedazzled my youth but it's time for us to say goodbye. See you, soon, (maybe?)

revelling in this masterstroke from a great artist...
Im a Murakami fan, right from the day i first took Kafka on the shore in my hands. This is an incredibly awesome book. The reason i love Murkami a lot is, his way of writing is evocative, in a sense, even though the actual story is a fiction, you can still feel the events described in it, with a personal touch. I find him immensely interesting and it just keeps me in place for a long time. I love the sexuality exhibited in his writing. I enjoy it. Its a gift and he has a flair to toy with the emotions. Mind you, sexuality has been exhibited without or rather less inhibitions in Japanese culture, than other parts of the world. ( i tend to think about the author when he writes his piece and try to understand how and where his work or literature came to be)And now to the book, 1Q84 is just great! I was hooked from the moment i read the first chapter. And i always love his taste for music and i am indeed greatly moved towards music through his works. The story about two people said in a parallel perspective of their own lives, which will collide later undoubtedly. It hits all the right notes in both the characters. There are a slew of strong and expressive plot lines which grips you and keeps you rooted in your place. I am loving everything that is going on till now with the book. Its almost tantalizing to read his books. The book is long and i can understand why it is and i have no worries about it. The first and second books came out in 2009 and the third the next year. I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to read a long book and still captivated by it. The language is simple and crisp, easy to understand for anybody, unlike Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who has a penchant for expressive and complex language and at times a lil archaic, which is in its own way a beautiful masterpiece. It has a beautiful ambience to it. Go for it. Especially a Murakami fan should read it.And now for this book itself, its a good imprint. The font, spacing and size are all good. The cover of the paperback is thin, but it has held all the pages of the book intact. I have took it in trains and buses and it has been through all. The paper quality is good. No issues with it. Its a great work of fiction. Hope you too will have a good time as i had! Cheers!!!

Amazing and a must read.
Being a Murakami fan this became a must read for me. Whenever I came across his best works this would be there. Therefore, I ordered this trilogy. When this book arrived and I saw it I was in thought how long will it take me to finish this! After all it was 1300+ pages. But, being a fierce reader I picked it up and started. As is Haruki style, you pick it up and you can't go back to keep it down. The story is amazing. It cannot be described in words. The characters, each one of them, has their own importance and beauty. The writing style is not that subtle but not at any point can you have the feeling of not understanding the storyline.Post this book I have increased respect for Haruki Murakami as a writer. He picks up his pen to create magic. He is able to create a world where the reader gets lost for good.Thank you Haruki Murakami for writing this book and Amazon for letting readers like me access this wonderful masterpiece.

a mi parecer muy largo
No es un mal libro pero fácilmente se pudo hacer 400paginas más corto. El tercer libro se siente muy forzado y tarda mucho en avanzar.

Not 3 volume, This is one 2.5" thick book
I was expecting 3 volumes, i got 1 big thick cumbersome book. Stars are for misrepresentation, not about content
