An excellent padlock and built to a very high standard. It should weather well given the special coating used but as with all padlocks around this price point, it could quite easily be picked by someone with reasonable skill and enough time. It is, however, an effective deterrent and likely to last a long time.By default the lock is configured to retain the key until the padlock is locked, but it can be easily modified to allow the key to be released prior to the padlock being locked. Instructions on how to do this are available online. My partner and I prefer the default setting as it ensures that we don't accidentally padlock our tall side gate with our keys locked behind it somewhere when we go for a bike ride.Official Abus blank keys matching the profile of the ones supplied with the lock (only two) are available for a pound or so and can be cut by any local key cutter.Luckily I bought two of these excellent padlocks for £21 each on Amazon when they were on offer and I'd be happy to buy more, even if they were more expensive.Incidentally, I was aided in my decision to buy this particular lock after looking at a video on YouTube by the hugely popular LockPickingLawyer.Highly recommended!

Very strong padlock with an easy action, used with the abus security hasp and staple it provides excelent security. I intend to upgrade my other buildings similarly.

I needed a padlock to secure an industrial unit and decided on this one. I have no experience of padlocks as such.First impressions are good. The padlock is heavy and very solid feeling. The mechanism is pleasing to use and overall I feel confident using this lock to secure my unit. The lock is rated 9 out of 10 on a scale of how secure it is meant to be. I've also seen it stated as a 5/5 on a different scale.One thing to consider is that out of the box it is set as 'key retaining'. I didn't even know such a phrase existed until I looked into it. It means that to lock and unlock, the key must be held in the lock. So you can't unlock, remove the key and then squeeze it locked again, the key must go back in first.The problem I had at first was that the hoop this goes through is surrounded by a metal enclosure on my unit's steel door. There is limited space and therefore with the key in the lock it was quite tricky to put the padlock on and take off. This is made worse by the closed shackle design. A quick look on Youtube and I found that this 83 series of Abus locks can be set to either be key retaining or not. So 2 minutes later I'd set it up to be not key retaining and I now have no problem using it. Note to Abus to perhaps add instructions to their boxes?Last of all this padlock is supposedly made with rust-proof materials and I will add to this review in the future when it's had plenty of rain on it.

I tried to buy a secure padlock with more than 2 keys but failed so plumped for this this one with the intention of buying additional keys from the Abus website.There or no key numbers on the key or the lock (for security reasons), and the Abus website suggests there should be a key card with the key number, used when placing an order.Sadly, there was no key card in the sealed package and if I’d known this, I may have continued to look for another make.

I bought 2 of these locks to secure a shipping container. Someone tried to break in over the weekend and the lock has taken and absolute pounding and neither has budged. Ordering 2 more immediately to replace them as I don't want to risk them being weakened if they try again.People thought I was stupid for spending so much on locks but they've saved me a lot more money and a huge headache.

A very sturdy lock and after buying the first one I decided to get a second one from Amazon Warehouse - it arrived quickly and in good condition but no keys. I bought another one thinking surely this must be a one-off but again, it arrived without keys. The returns process was painful but my two refunds were eventually processed. So, it's a great lock when you get keys - I've read of similar experiences so the moral of this story is to buy new!

Una bestia de candado, robusto, brillante y muy bien acabado. Lo único criticable es el excesivo peso, pero es el precio a pagar por la dureza y la resistencia de los materiales.Incorpora el sistema Z-Bar de Abus, que consiste en que podremos modificarlo para que bloquee las llaves cuando el arco esté abierto o que no las bloquee nunca (por defecto viene con el bloqueo activo). Para quitar el bloqueo y poder extraer las llaves siempre que queramos tendremos que extraer el cilindro. Para ello lo abrimos y en el agujero del arco veremos un tornillo que tendremos que extraer con un destornillador. Una vez extraído este, el cilindro ya está liberado y saldrá por simple gravedad. Dentro del hueco donde se aloja el cilindro veremos una pequeña pieza de color dorado en forma de Z. Simplemente la extraemos con unas pinzas o un objeto alargado y volvemos a montar todo a la inversa. Ahora el bloqueo queda anulado y podremos extraer las llaves siempre que queramos.En mi caso particular he devuelto el producto porque las llaves son de serreta y yo las buscaba de puntos para darle un plus de seguridad (parece que si existe un modelo con este tipo de llaves o al menos se vende en otros países). Si no te importa el tipo de llave recomiendo totalmente el producto.
