Tasting Italy: A Culinary Journey

This is a gorgeous book!!
The book arrived in pristine condition and very well wrapped, to keep it that way! Thank you!!Basically, the photos are beautiful, and the narrative outside the recipes is interesting and informative. The recipes themselves are lovely. They may not cover a geographic area YOU'RE particularly interested in, and they will for sure leave out a recipe you consider essential. ATK makes absolutely no claims to be comprehensive, and they're not. But what's actually in the book is fantastic.

Nicely organized by region with food history and recipes
I love that this book is organized by region with food history and recipes so I can make the connection to my travels in Italy. Beautiful photos of both food and landscapes. Recipes are easy to follow with ATK’s trusted step by step instructions.

Simple tasty and foolproof
ATK is one of few cookbook authors I trust. I trust their recipes to turn out well because every recipe I have tried has been great. They are not too complicated or have an unreasonable long list of ingredients but rather straightforward and simple but the dish still comes out very tasty! This cookbook is my favorite Italian cookbook and I own 6 - actually it is one of my favorite cookbooks I own and I have a small library of them. I enjoy the backstory of the recipes as well as the information about regional differences and why recipes work. I absolutely recommend Tasting Italy 🇮🇹

A breadth of Italy, beautiful photos, lower amount of recipes.
This is truly a beautiful cookbook for someone who is interested in learning about the cooking within the specific regions of Italy. It provides a level of information and history with each area, combined with a very nice photo of the finished recipe. For that reason, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in traveling to Italy without a full knowledge of the different emphasis on foods for each area. That being said, and while it is a beautiful book, for gifts as well, I would have liked to see more actual recipes, and I look forward to making several, but am not interested in making them all, as compared to another recent Complete Mediterranean cookbook. They are, however, very different feels, and this book will appeal to a specific audience who is not merely looking for a larger array of recipes, but more of a breadth of Italy itself. Again, a beautiful book as a gift to anyone interested in traveling Italy.

What a gorgeous book!
I attended a lecture with Jack Bishop [from America's Test Kitchen], and Eugenia Bone [nationally known nature and food writer, and author who wrote essays in this book] and was compelled to buy this book. So glad I did. The photos from National Geographic are stunning [my photos of their pictures do not nearly do them justice]! The history and essays are beautifully written and informative; and the recipes are wonderful and are adapted to what we have available in the States. How refreshing and useful! I've already given one of these as a gift. An interesting story from those involved was that in looking for a cover, there were a number of locations being considered. Whereas normally the food could be superimposed on any beautiful background, National Geographic would hear none of it! That pasta on the cover had to be made fresh and photographed on location. What a wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon!

Match Made in Heaven!
This book made me salivate! Nat Geo + ATK = brilliant! If you love travel and food, you need to add this to your collection! I love the historical / cultural info + recipes for authentic dishes. I have been to / studied in Italy, and I saw some favorite dishes included (like cacio e pepe, etc.).Though I have not cooked anything from the book yet, I have flagged a lot of dishes to try in the next few weeks.I hope this trend will continue - Tasting Mexico, Tasting Spain, Tasting France, etc. Yum!

Great book if you like things Italian
Gave this to my son for his birthday and he loved it. He has tried several of the recipes already and sent me pictures of his Italian meals. All looked wonderful and yummy.

A travel book, cookbook and coffee table book all in one.
Nice hardcover book with beautiful pictures, maps and of course mouthwatering recipes that are easy to make and so well explained. It’s like having a coffee table book, a travel book and a cookbook all in one. A must! Especially for anyone who has been to, and/or loves Italy and its delicious cuisine.

Beautiful and good cookbook, but not always fully authentic recipes
Beautiful book. Not the standard recipe book, but it gives lots of background on regions and dishes. But I did find the recipes are not always fully authentic. Regularly, ingredients are added which are not present in more authentic cookbooks, eg the great books of Bugialli. Nevertheless, a very nice addition to any cookbook collection.

Lovely book with lovely photos.
1) Would have appreciated more views of countryside and fewer of food!2) The recipes are all written for Americans, and it is assumed that one has access to American ingredients. What arrogance!
