A Gem of the Renaissance
I read this autobiography in college and it still entertains and fascinates me decades later. Cellini was a master goldsmith during the unique period of time we call the Renaissance. This autobiography gives a detailed look into this period along with the major artists of the time. I am forever very grateful to Professor Guido Capponi, who made this book a part of his course curriculum

Love the size of this book
I read this in high school for a project and loved it so much I had to have at least one copy in my book collection - and this one is a great edition. I love the different sizing. It makes it fun to read a book that's a bit bigger than normal sizing and the cover is lovely.

Most Excellently Written
This book gives an incredible peek into the everyday life of the exceptionally complicated, adventurous life of a renaissance soldier, goldsmith, painter, musician. I understand why it is truly one of the top 10 autobiographies ever written. I could not put it down. If you are interested in the Renaissance, you have to read this book.

and remain amazed at the life Cellini lived
I read this book over forty years ago, and remain amazed at the life Cellini lived. It presents a wonderful birds eye view of life in the 1500's. While at times it seems inconceivable that any man could survive such turmoil in a life which calls into question the authenticity of what Cellini writes, one has only to see the product of his gifted craftsmanship in carving priceless articles in gold, for example, to be reassured of his talent and his brave nature in spite of the worst possible circumstances that could befall anyone. I just bought the book for my Granddaughter for Christmas. Read it and be accordingly rewarded!

with soul and wit and a fascinating look into the world of a great artist.
A work of art in itself and testimony to how little has changed since the year 1500. This is an exceptional piece of writing, with soul and wit and a fascinating look into the world of a great artist.
