Perfect for bedtime stories.
This book has cured my insomnia. It’s not boring at all, my brain just feels relaxed after reading a few pages with all the solving problems and learning morals that I feel I have gathered enough resources to survive for the night. Also all the stories about talking animals and symbolism puts my brain in dream logic mode where nothing makes sense but everything makes sense at the same time and I can drift off.

Durable volume of a classic, with nice artistic touches
I bought a few copies of this book for two friends of mine that had never heard of it. My dad used to read this to me as a young boy. This is a book that everyone should have in their home. This is the classic version with all of the Fables. It is a very, very nice copy of the book I remember from my youth. It is built to last many years. This is a book that can be handed down to younger generations. If you can't find a version from the 70's, this is as good as it gets.

A book that everyone should have.
The book is gorgeous and well made. Top quality. This is a gift for my great grandson that will teach lesson of how to be a great person and how to treat fellow human beings. It can be read even when he is an adult. I am excited to gift it to him.

The ONLY Hardbound Aesop's Fables You Should Buy
Great book, hardbound leather cover is perfect, artwork is great (some colored but mostly monochome), the titles and the lessons were phrased in the traditional translation we were used to (e.g. The Tortoise and the Hare - Slow and steady wins the race). Paper is ok, not super thick, needs a bit of care - and there is the golden edges that gives you the papercut anxiety as you turn. Very good for reading bedtime stories to children, this book is a treasure trove of life lessons.

Sophisticated Diction elegantly illustrated
I bought this book to read to my 7-year old daughter, but the diction and style are similar to reading the King James version of the Bible - to wit, 'tis written poetically oft inverting subject object then verb amidst loftily intertwined turns of phrase. No doubt it is well-written, and the original artwork is beautiful. But it's hard for a kid to understand the message being conveyed. I'll readily admit I had to read one or two a couple times myself to really understand the stories and their lessons. My biggest complaint is the usage of Roman deity names. Aesop was a Greek. He did not write about Jupiter and Juno. He wrote about Zeus and Hera. How shameful.
