My Favorite Bowl EVER
Ive owned one of these for over 2 years and it is, absolutely, my favorite bowl out of the many I own. Its perfectly sized for single servings (it holds about 1 cup of rice and if you are eating more than one cup of rice with your meal... well... enjoy your elastic waist bands!). It keeps food hot for quite some time. Its durable (mine has been dropped countless times and has been washed even more, yet it looks brand new). The top can be used separately, inverted, as a dipping bowl. This is not a cheap, chintzy bowl. Its awesome! To those who gave this bowl negative reviews... I suggest you learn to read descriptions! This bowl is plastic, just like the description says. Its small, 4.5 inches deep, just as the description says. It is exactly what it says it is. If you bought it thinking it would hold a gallon of soup and then complained about it being too small... or bought it thinking it was genuine lacquer, but were amazed that the bowl you paid 5 bucks for was, in fact, NOT lacquer... that is just your own stupidity! Read the descriptions before you buy ANYTHING.This. Is. The. Best. Little. Bowl. Ever.

pretty much what I expected
These plastic bowls are nice looking textured plastic with lids, perfect for a single serving of miso soup or a large scoop of rice to serve with Asian dishes. They are not fancy lacquer but look fine. They are the same size as the bowls most Japanese restaurants serve miso soup in. They have survived the top rack of the dishwasher with no apparent effect (other than getting clean!). Haven't used them in the microwave so no idea how they will fare there. It would be nice if the seller posted microwave and dishwasher care. If there was a note in the box, my son threw it out when he unwrapped these...they were a gift to him since he loves to prepare and eat Asian dishes and likes to give them a nice presentation. I got some spoons to go with them here: Asian Red/Black Soup Spoons, Set of 2

Good
This bowl is perfect for snacks, it holds a serving of all kinds of snack items and the cover is handy if you want to finish later. I haven’t used it for soup or rice but I’m sure it works for those as well.Note to Amazon: This tiny 4 inch bowl arrived in a 14 x 20 box. It probably would have safely shipped in a padded envelope.

The bowl is a great design. The bowl is too small for the cost. If the plastic bowl was larger the price would fit the value.I could not find a non plastic bowl on Amazon that was worth the price. As a former potter I now what it costs to makea bowl, fire it, and sell it so ... a lot of the ceramic bowls on Amazon are overpriced. Where I live there is no local orientalsupply store for food or cooking things so ... I went to Amazon. So if you are counting calories to eat 1 cup per item or foodhere is your bowl.

Cost/quality.
Very small and cheap. Good for a small serving of soup or rice. Ok overall. Could cost less.

Nice!
Have not quite dared to use it for soup, as label says, no hot water. What I have found it very handy for, is for storing my snack mix (crackers, peanuts, raisins, etc.)it actually keeps it fresher than a bowl covered with plastic.Plus it makes all these cute configurations- if you want to share, the top makes a separate little bowl. And, you can fit the bottom onto the top, like a pedestal.I also used it as a rice bowl; that was very nice.:)

Fine quality, but small in size.
As others said --this is a super small bowl. Like, I wouldn't even use it for rice, muchless soup. And I'm not just saying Asian vs. American portion sizes. Otherwise, it's sturdy enough plastic construction, the lid sits well on top of the bowl. This will be great for dipping sauces and salsa in the future, so I'm still going to use it...just not for it's intended purpose. Purchase with care!

Plastic, but adorable... gives you sushi restaurant experience at office/home
Pros - durable, striking looking, lid is very functionalCons - plastic after all, doesn't come with matching spoon which would be niceI got two of these with two spoons like you get at any sushi place. The lid is great for when you are carrying from your microwave to your table/office. They look adorable, and got positive reviews from office worker. Now I can pop in a miso soup mixture, microwave, and be back at my desk enjoying a super low calorie, savory litte snack at work. In that sense, these are perfect.

It's ok but, no.
It's much too small but if you would like more than a 250mL serving of noodles I suggest this only be used for rice. Not a fan of plastic but it's nicely designed. Definitely won't suggest it for this price...

Great bowl
This bowl is the size of a large cup and has a lid. It is as, other reviews mention, made from a rigid plasic, but still manages to look good.I have had two of these for 3 years. They are microwave and dishwasher proof (at least resilient), besides soup I use them to microwave frozen peas and spinach. One small issue to be aware of, I tried microwaving a small amount of dry rice in one the other day and with in 2 min the rice had burnt a hole right through the bowl. This is in no way a defect in the bowl, I do not recommend microwaving dry rice in any plastic container.

Plastic not laquer
Despite the fact I almost always read the reviews somehow I missed them for this product. These bowls are made of plastic and I was rather disappointed with this fact when I opened the box however when I've eaten in Japanese restaurants (apart from very expensive ones) the bowls have also generally been plastic and similar to these. The plastic is quite tactile and they are convenient as they stack very well meaning they don't greatly add to cupboard clutter. For the price I think they are decent quality but the description could indeed be more forthcoming about the materials used so as to avoid disappointment.

Nice looking bowl
Nice looking bowl that looks like a terracotta bowl but made of plastic. I used it first for Miso soup the lid kept it walm and the bowl looks very presentable and the best thing is it is more shatter proof than terracotta time will tell if it stands up to use I will up date in a while
