Great wooden farm set
I'm really happy with this purchase. I have been running a home childcare for 28 years (!!), and the barns that I own stopped being fun for the kids a long time ago-too small, too easy to close up and carry away from your friends...but, I saw these mentioned somewhere, and put them in a box that included farm animals, little plastic veggies and other small blocks, and the kids have become much more creative with their farm play. I decided to put away the box that it came with that had building suggestions, because I wanted to use the other components for a more open ended experience. I'm really glad that I purchased this well made set to use as an addition to other toys, but, a child or two on their own could certainly enjoy the set without adding anything extra.

Set for generations
My granddaughter went with me to take my Cattle Dog to the vets and they had a wooden barn and animals that she loved to play with. I came home and we went on Amazon to shop. She picked out this set and has been in love with it since she opened it. It is well made, very detailed, sturdy and loved. Very happy with it, the price and the delivery time. The animals and barn are very detailed, and sturdy.

Cute farm but paint chips
My kids love being able to build the farm. The only downside is the paint chips easily.

The wooden tray they come with works great for clean up and storage
My 2 1/2 year old absolutely loves these blocks!! She loves building the barn and then "hiding" the animals inside of the opening. The wooden tray they come with works great for clean up and storage. I do wish it had some sort of top but it is nice because everything fit inside with room to spare so she can handle picking everything up on her own. The tray is also great because it fits perfectly in the cube shelf we have. The pictures on the blocks are colorful and cute. This set has been played with for quite a few hours already since Christmas. Awesome gift because it engages imaginative play and doesn't make noise. Nice and simple but good for a wide age range.

Well-made--Encourages Imagination!
This wooden block set is very well made--painted--no stickers--my 21-month old grandson and I spend a lot of time playing with it. The blocks are easy to put together--he loves to help and play with the animal blocks and tractor block--there's even a white fence and tree! This set is so detailed and he loves taking it apart and putting it back together! It's nice to have a toy that uses his imagination!

Not recommended to buy
I am completely disappointed with the set....the pieces I received could not be constructed to match the picture on the promo. My biggest complaint is that I was misled by the pictures, which did not match the pieces shipped. I have not returned it only because I have not taken the time to do so...I will not be using it in my work or with my grandchildren.

Eh...it was alright.
I usually love Melissa & Doug products. However, the paint on this one was peeling before we even got it out of the package! On top of that, the two small triangles that are meant to complete the roof on the side were not fully painted. There isn't a shingle pattern on it like shown in the picture. I emailed the company about the inferior product and never heard back.

For the young farm fanatic.
We've had this toy since my oldest child was about 18 months old (we put the smallest pieces aside until he was older), and he'll go to it from time to time. He likes to set up the fence (I had to do it when he was younger) and the smaller animal/tree/tractor pieces can be educational ("How many pigs are there?", "Is the tractor inside the fence?", etc.), but the barn itself is very hard for him to set up.He can put the pieces of the hen house together, but stacking the barn pieces is extraordinarily frustrating for him (and often for me). He wants to open the "door", but the roof isn't very sturdy, so it's just a mess. This is made even more trying by the fact that the flat piece that the roof sits on and one of the roof side slope pieces went missing almost immediately (and I/we are really careful with his toys). If you lose any of the barn pieces, the whole thing becomes a LOT less fun. I've been looking for a replacement, but I don't want to buy a whole second set just for those two parts, especially since we don't have it out most of the time because it's not a safe set for my younger child (10 months old).My older child is now doing imaginative play, and as he does that more and more (and as his fine motor control increases), manipulating smaller themed pieces like this will be more fun for him.Bottom line: My son (2.5 years old) enjoys this toy, and I think he'll continue to enjoy it for some time to come. Given the choice, I would buy it again, but I have some reservations.
