Couldn't be happier. True no-escape harness.
Heaven bless this harness, it's exactly what we needed for our houdini doggie. The belly strap is exactly what we needed so he can't slip out. And he's tried, believe me. We got a small harness for our adopted 40-lb. Australian Heeler/Cattle dog mix with severe separation anxiety. This boy...we've had to contain him for his own safety when we have to leave him alone. We tried all sorts of other harnesses that snug about the chest only, and we finally had to just go a bit more expensive and get this harness and it is THE answer. GREAT material/quality, secure clips and the straps don't loosen with movement/strain. The cable hook is thick and sturdy and has held up perfectly against pulling. The harness slips on easily enough—that's more an issue of frantic dog than harness design but the design is also great, just over the nose and right front leg through the one closed-loop hole up front. The top material that runs along the back/spine is stiff but flexible, just the right mix. The padding on the straps is great for under his chest and belly. No fabric folds or twists to cause discomfort. We can even lift him out of an overly excited off-leash-dog-park scuffle like a doggie suitcase. That's super handy, and it doesn't get any painful reaction from him, so the straps distribute the load super well. We finally feel relieved that we can leave him alone in a safe harness anchored in a safe place as we get him used to being alone. Trust me, we've tried it all (the lavender, the music, the tricks and advice, the medication even): we won't give up on this twice-abandoned shelter boy! He's forever home now, and this harness has seriously saved my nerves about him being okay when I get home.Another thing to note: as Midas was getting used to this new harness with the second/belly strap, he felt at first like he was impaired to move (silly guy) and I also noticed he wouldn't attempt going potty with the belly strap secured. So we started getting him used to the front of the harness and using the belly strap bit by bit. When the belly strap isn't needed, it's super easy to secure the strap in its clasp over the top on his back and he prances around just fine.

Highly recommend!! The best made and most effective dog harness ever!!
I purchased the XS for my 26# Basenji and it is a perfect fit. This is by far the best harness for controlling him that I have tried. We stay in a lot of different rv parks where other dogs are encountered on the way to and at the dog walk/poop area. He goes into whirling dervish mode when nearing another dog and this happens whether the other dog is large or small. I have tried a martingale collar which is not effective in controlling him. Various other chest and head harnesses which don’t seem to work or he is able to slip out of them. Nothing has worked in being able to stop the whirling- not training or other harnesses. This harness enables me to keep him in from whirling around or pulling so aggressively that he tears up the ground with his paws. If my efforts to control him are not as effective as required for the situation, I simply pick him up with the carry strap on the top of the harness and carry him away from the situation. He does not mind wearing the harness and having the carry strap makes it easier to load him into my truck or Jeep. He does not seem to mind being picked up this way and is not distressed at all while he is suspended or carried using the carry strap. He is absolutely unable to pull back out of the harness and if he balks at being pulled, but you still must have him go in the direction your are guiding/pulling him, you can do it without being concerned about the harness coming off.My only suggestion is for the manufacturer to beef up the nylon strap that connects the metal ring to the harness. In all other aspects, this is a well designed and constructed harness.I suggest that the manufacturer could provide a rain coat and fleece jacket that snapped or velcroed to the harness with the leash attachment ring hole placed properly. I cut a hole in existing rain jacket so the metal leash attachment could feed through the hole and the leash could be attached. Same for a warming jacket.Read and use the sizing chart for your dog. I was reluctant to order the XS for my 26# Basenji, just because nothing else I have ever ordered fit in an XS size. It fits him perfectly. Spend a few minutes when you fit the dog into it the first time and make strap adjustments that are not binding or overly tight. Putting the harness on each time is not difficult when you and your dog get used to it.My dog seems to like wearing it and has worn it all day loafing and on long hikes. The harness does nothing in terms of reducing his tendenancy to pull on the leash but normal check-tugs on the leash by me are now done knowing that it is not going to choke him like when using any type of collar.I don’t normally write product reviews except for items that I feel are exceptional in terms of value and fit for purpose. This is one of those products.

Great For Escape Artists, but Could Use Some Tweaking
I have a German Shepherd/Husky mix who can Houdini out of any other harness in 2 seconds. This one is designed with a third latch/strap, and that has made all the difference. She has not managed to back out of this harness at all over the past few months of wear. The top handle is the other great feature of this model. It allows me immediate control to restrain or guide my dog as needed. The entire vest feels very well made and secure. Two drawbacks I would note for improvement:First, the fit is a bit wonky. If your dog is between sizes like mine is, you either have to go with a harness that’s a bit short and overly snug, or you have to accept looser fit in order to get a proper length. I wish the straps were more adjustable (as in could be tightened even further than they go). I chose the larger size, which looks proportionate and is comfy for my dog. Unfortunately, this results in a harness that can slide around from side to side. But, even so, this design is not easily slipped off despite being a bit large in those ways.Second drawback is that this harness does not offer a front clip option. Why? Many others on here have noted the same issue. A front attachment works much better for walking for lots of dogs. My dog has a strong drive to pull, and the front attachment on her previous rough wear harness really helped minimize this. I really, really wish they had included that option on this model.Other than these two issues, this harness is wonderful. I recommend it highly, especially if you have a dog who tends to escape from other harnesses.

Zina's favourite harness ...
We now have 2 of these. Our Jackapoo rescue has a red one and now a dark gray one (for formal occasions;) and also so she always has a dry one. We live in Vancouver and our 20 lb rescue Jackapoo loves to get into everything and has been known to get out of other harnesses. She seems to like this one. What we like about the Ruffwear web master is that with a bit of practice and proper initial setup it is easy to put on. We believe our dog Zina is comfortable in it because she never seems to care whether it is on or off. It is safe with a sturdy leash attachment point and also a nice loop at the back as a back up attachment point (I sometimes put a carabiner on this and attach to the lead as a backup to the main attachment) and really useful for attaching poop bags too. We believe dogs should carry their own poop bags. The handle on the harness is great for things such as helping our little huntress into the car, hanging on to her when she wants to go after something she shouldn't and dunking her lower half in a pond to get the mud off. There is some reflective stitching which helps with visibility at night and the harnesses clean up well. We hand wash them but know of others who machine wash them. Zina is one of those dogs who is always brushing up against things, walls rocks etc and while I can hear the harness being brushed against objects it doesn't seem to be showing much wear so I think the material is pretty durable. it's worth taking the time to view the Ruffwear video on how to adjust the harness and it's worth spending a few minutes to get it properly adjusted. After a few months with the red one we decided to get another which is evidence of how much we like the product. Zina goes on some hikes every month and its nice to know when we are out in the woods that we can rely on this harness to keep our dog within easy leash reach and not out there baiting the coyotes. We think it's a great product for active dogs.

A prueba de perros Houdini
Mi perra escapista ya no se puede sacar el arnés, el julius se lo sacaba con inusitada facilidad, escapándose. Con este lo ha intentado pero no puede, estoy encantada!
