Waste of time
Most disappointing thing I've seen, probably ever. There were a couple of spots where it started to come together, but then they blew it apart with political Hollywood non-sense. If you want a half cocked story with a bunch of sjw junk sprinkled throughout, you'll love this. It's at best, ok in my opinion. They can't just tell the story, they gotta rub your nose in bigotry like your the one to blame for societal problems in hollyweird then throw in some action, mixed with cgi to make it look cool and expect you to be excited. If your a fan of star wars for the story, pass on this. If ya didn't watch them growing up and think women should rule the world and socialism is awesome, you'll love it.Personally, I wish I could get my money back. Total waste of time.

Liberal Trash
Lando is a "pansexual." Really, like we needed to know or be subjected to that? Thanks Disney for inserting something so obscene into a galaxy "far, far away."

Worst star wars movie ever.
If i could have given this neg stars i would have. Since Disney has taken over the series, it has been going down hill fast. Between bad acting and promoting feminism narratives, This movie sucked. The last Jedi comes in second. It's To bad, Since have been watching star wars since it came out in the 70's.

No spoiler here--- I hated TLJ but I loved this movie.
I hated the last jedi but I loved this movie. This movie felt more like a star wars movie. Lots of throw backs to the orginal trilogy. The music and sound effects were true star wars. The action was incredible. And Lando was spot on! There were times I would close my eyes and I thought it was listening to Billy Dee. I will admit that I was nervous about the actor playing Han Solo. At first I thought "this is not Han Solo". By the end of the movie I felt like it really was Han Solo. It is almost like the character slowly transformed throughout the entire film into the Han that we all know and love. Ron Howard did an excellent job. He payed close attention to the details of our beloved star wars universe. All I can say is I hope there is a sequel.

Good time
I’ll admit I had extremely low expectations for this movie due to all the negative attention. That being said what a fun movie! While it may not have been the backstory Star Wars fans wanted, it was pretty darn good. Lots of action, really funny way better movie than the last Jedi which totally sucked in my opinion.

A better Star Wars Movie
Than the Last Jedi. This one rings more true to the universe. Thanks to Ron Howard for rescuing this project and for giving us a decent film!

Ehrenreich is Solo!
Solo far exceeded expectations. It seems like "The Last Jedi" just came out (it did about 5 months ago) and I would have preferred if Disney could space these releases out by 12 months - but that has nothing to do with the content of Solo. I was definitely hesitant about how any cast could own this story but they did. Speaking of the story (no spoilers), it works well and then really comes together right at the end - realistically setting up 2 more Alden Ehrenreich movies. Ehrenreich has taken the Solo mantel from Harrison Ford - Ehrenreich *is* the young Solo. I call this out because that was the #1 issue I had with this movie coming into it. No one else could be play Solo - but Ehrenreich won me over. The rest of the cast was excellent and I am looking forward to seeing the majority of them again in the future. Solo felt fresh - a new start in the Stars Wars saga. Background: My favorite SW episodes are the original theatrical releases of Episodes 4, 5 and 6.

A well done back story of the Star Wars reluctant hero
Theater review. Possible spoilers. Fresh on the heels of “The Last Jedi” comes the back story of Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), arguably the best character in the Star Wars saga. The movie was laden with problems, not the least of which is a change of directors well after things were underway. I’m not completely sure of the rationale but “creative differences” can mean many things. After Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired, Ron Howard took over and by most accounts delivered the picture Star Wars veteran scriptwriter Lawrence Kasdan, his son Jonathan and producer Kathleen Kennedy wanted. I’ve read the reason for the change had to do with Lord and Miller’s version relying too much on humor to their version being too dark. I’ve read where they didn’t get along with star Alden Ehrenreich to the fact they were burning through money. In any case I thought the movie was damn good.Like almost all of the Star Wars films, there is strong story and character development. Certainly in a film devoted to a backstory not only of Solo but another beloved character, Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), that would be expected. This movie would seem to be framed between Episode 3, “Revenge of the Sith” and “Rogue One.” Here Han (officially has no last name, but we learn how he acquired Solo) is in his early 20’s living on a crummy planet of “haves and have nots” called Corellia. He has a cutie pie girlfriend named Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke). They are trying to get away from the planet but it takes money or power, neither of which they have. Han gets out, Qi’ra does not, but Han promises to return to get her.We learn early on that Han is cocky, self-confident and yes, a bit shady. When he applies to be a pilot for the Empire, he ends up in the infantry instead where he meets a character named Beckett (Woody Harrelson). Beckett and his cohorts, Val (Thandie Newton) and Rio Durant (voiced by Jon Favreau) are on the battlefield only to steal from the Empire. When Han is arrested for desertion, he’s tossed into a cell with a Wookie named Rrraaawwgghhhyy! Han calls him Chewbacca. They manage to escape and reunite with Beckett where Han proves to be the pilot he says he is.In what can easily be seen as a gang of thieves, they plan a heist of a precious energy but when things don’t go well, Beckett must answer to his crime boss, Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany) who isn’t very tolerant of mistakes. Midway through the film Han meets Lando, essentially a gambler by trade. Lando is the original owner of the Millennium Falcon. His co-pilot, perhaps the best new character, is L3-37 (voiced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge). It/she is terrific as a technically astute wise-ass robot that is hard not to like. The film is fast moving and technically well done. I will admit I wasn’t a fan of the bland color palette that permeates through most of the film. One theory is that the filmmakers wanted the story to reflect the look of an old time dusty western which in many ways it is. Ehrenreich works as a young Han Solo, with the smirk in place. He doesn’t try to do an imitation of Harrison Ford but there is enough of his characteristics that allows you to buy in. We’re mostly left hanging with Qi’ra. Glover also makes a convincing Lando. The film allows plenty of boxes to be checked off as to how it all connects with earlier films (but later chronologically). Look for a return of a character from Episode I. Wait, wasn’t he killed? Well, in fiction death isn’t always forever. As far as the film, I liked it and hope for more. Recommended.

Grauenhafter Disney Eintopf

BEFORE HAN JOINS THE REBELLION.............
This the second Star-Wars spin-off adventure............which see's the young lovable, quick-witted and resourceful pirate Han Solo (The role made famous by screen-legend Harrison Ford) played by Alden Ehrenreich who's sole ambition is to be a pilot and tour the galaxy's meet his future co-pilot Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) in a pit where Han had been placed to be killed by the Wookiee, however it helps if you know a little Wookiee.........they will become close allies. To pay back a heavy dept and indeed stay alive Han will team up with ruthless villain Tobias Beckett: (Woody Harrelson) and his team along with new-found friend Lando Calrissian: (Donald Glover) who has a ship to set off on a dangerous heist to steal highly valued coaxium for Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany) a ruthless crime-lord.A bonus for Han is that in Dryden's employ is his old partner-in-crime and indeed lover Qi'ra (Emilia Clarke) who he'd been separated from some years before (Han had promised he'd find her again)There are those who underestimate Han Solo, however he has paid attention to what had been said. This is without doubt a fast-moving, action-packed thrill-ride which boasts a superb array of special-effects to cherish..................Like Rogue One before it, this is a Star-Wars treat...A Must See.

Katastrophaler 3D Effekt
ICH WILL MEIN GELD ZURÜCK!!!!!!

Okay, I admit I didn't want to like this film
I admit it, I had very low expectations for this film. It seemed like an unnecessary addition to the Star Wars canon, filling in a backstory that didn't need to exist outside the minds of fans. But actually, I loved it. I was originally going to give it four stars, but I've decided what the heck, it should get five stars just for pulling off in a sharp and entertaining way what could easily have been a disaster. Also, because it'll annoy all those who seem to think Disney have wrecked Star Wars, rather than revitalised a franchise that was not looking too good after the prequels.Solo is a heist movie, pure and simple and the perfect backdrop for the character. Thieves, gangsters, smugglers, and a Solo that is fresh-faced and at the start of his career, not the grizzled rogue we meet in the original films. This is a cocky, perhaps naive, pilot looking for his escape route and a big break. Sure it's going to upset some of the fans, but deep down we all know that Han didn't magically appear the way we've always known him - and when we leave the story, we get a better appreciation for how he ended up years later. This could even be a great standalone film for non Star Wars fans looking for an entertaining heist movie with a science fiction twist. Who knows, it might even gain some new fans for the franchise.

A Star Wars Story
