Full disclosure: I did not buy this product.The brown pods that are shown have been cured - which means that they have been killed in order to start the curing process. This also means that any seeds within them (often referred to as specks or caviar) are dead as well, and will not germinate.You would have to start out with uncured pods, which would be green.So...why did I give it a five star rating? Because I might be wrong about the seeds being from cured vanilla pods, which I based upon the photo used in the listing. I did write to the seller with my concerns, but they never responded.
