Ancient Aliens & JFK: The Race to the Moon and the Kennedy Assassination

No ancient aliens here, no credibility either
I have bad news for fans of the popular TV show "Ancient Aliens." There's almost nothing about ancient aliens in this book—its title is a cynical attempt to attract the TV fans without any intention of delivering the goods that are in the shop window. But then, readers of this author's previous work should be conditioned to expect dishonesty. In his book "Hidden Agenda," Bara used an image from Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter showing landslips down the rim of lunar crater Marius. But he turned it upside down and captioned it "Jagged, crystalline spires poking miles above the surface of the Moon." And guess what? Here it is again in the JFK book, on page 85, bearing exactly the same mendacious caption. The publisher, David Childress, should be ashamed of trotting out this lie not once but twice.Bara resorts to this flagrant cheating because he wants to persuade us that there's more on the Moon than NASA is letting on. The central thesis of this book is that Kennedy was assassinated because he intended to unite the American and Soviet space programs and go to the Moon hand in hand. Bara maintains, as he has in previous work, that Kennedy knew there was advanced technology on the Moon which, once retrieved and reverse engineered, could lead to a quantum leap forward in our own capabilities in space. According to this thesis, certain interests within the US establishment were so horrified at the idea that Kennedy was prepared to give away these secrets to the Russians that they had him killed. In previous work, Bara has claimed to know that the technology on the Moon was left there by the Anunnaki. In this book, I don't believe the Anunnaki even get a mention. Sorry about that, ancient alien fans. What Bara utterly fails to provide, either in this book or his previous work, is any credible evidence that Kennedy knew about these things or even how he _could_possibly_ have_known_, at a time when data and imagery from the lunar surface was primitive to say the least. Bara's former co-author, Richard Hoagland, has shown images he claims were made by turning the CIA spy satellite Corona around and pointing it at the Moon. But those images are of the full lunar disk and, as evidence of alien technology, they are pathetic non-starters. From a technical point of view, it's quite simply ridiculous to suppose that Kennedy had knowledge of amazing hardware on the Moon. Other key questions that Bara doesn't even seriously consider are "Did the Apollo astronauts actually find any alien technology?" "What if anything did they bring back?" "Was it in fact useful?", and "Where is it now?" Without even an attempt to answer those questions Bara's speculations fall flat.He seems uncertain, too, about who exactly was so upset by Kennedy's overtures to Khruschev that assassination seemed like the only remedy. Perhaps the CIA (p.31) —perhaps Congressman Albert Thomas (p. 136) — perhaps Lyndon Johnson himself (p. 140 et seq.) In the end he seems to copy previous JFK authors (Jim Marrs and at least 11 others) and point the finger at LBJ. Part of his "evidence" is a photograph (p. 141) taken aboard Air Force One just after LBJ took the oath of office. He says Johnson has "a broad smile" as he turns to look in Albert Thomas's direction, and that Thomas is winking in response. Well, Johnson is turned away from the camera, so the so-called "broad smile" is pure speculation, and so is Albert Thomas's response. I certainly do not see a wink, and the whole concept is pathetically inadequate to form the basis of an accusation of high crimes. As a matter of fact, leaving aside for a moment that this whole story is unlikely verging on impossible, of the three suspects LBJ is the least likely. Yes, the CIA would have been pretty upset at Kennedy's approach to the Russians, and so would Albert Thomas—in fact he eventually used his power over the NASA budget appropriation to absolutely forbid it—but the idea of joint US-Soviet space operations did not particularly threaten LBJ's interests. In fact, once he became president he continued planning for the joint mission until his friend Albert Thomas nixed it for good. Bara reports this (p. 142) but belittles it as "making a show." How would he know that?As an author of this and other conjectural material, Bara seems impressively productive until you realize how much of his text is copy/pasted. In discussing the exact details of the assassination in Dealey Plaza, whole swaths of text on pp 98-100 are a simple Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V from pp. 171-2 of "Dark Mission." The entirety of Chapter 8, "Who Mourns For Apollo?" is similarly swiped from text of the same title Bara wrote in 2001. Self-plagiarism is no crime, to be sure, but in both cases there are co-authors to consider. "Dark Mission" was written with Richard Hoagland, and "Who Mourns?" with Hoagland and Steve Troy. "Lazy" is perhaps the kindest adjective to describe this author's copying habits. The infamous upside-down lunar image of p. 85 is not the only example of pictorial deception here. Bara may be unable to show us any examples of the so-called alien technology, but he does pretend to show us examples of glass domes over the Moon. Page 202 contains one such joke, Apollo frame AS10-32-4862*. Bara does not tell us that this is a 10x8 glossy print that was stored in a ring binder for 25 years, then pulled out and scanned on a consumer-grade scanner whose glass is quite clearly contaminated. The result has been loaded into Photoshop and the brightness slammed to near maximum. Bara tells us that this represents skyscrapers towering miles above the lunar surface. If you believe that, you're the answer to Mike Bara's prayer for gullible readers.* There is no image designated AS10-32-4862. This is probably AS10-32-4820.

Mike Bara is both a practical individual and a brilliant scholar, as this publication makes clear.
I am a former Investigator for Dr. J. Allen Hynek's Center for UFO Studies [CUFOS.]While working as an Investigator for Dr. Hynek, at my own request, Dr. Hynek charged me with determining the who, what, where, why & when of alien visitation to planet Earth. In short order thereafter my life and marriage got turned upside down by events whose origins were then unclear.Mike Bara has done an absolutely wonderful job in Ancient Aliens & JFK --- The Race to the Moon and the Kennedy Assassination and though there is one similar previous publication by a different author, he clearly states that he expressly avoided reading that book, so that it would not possibly influence his writing of this book. There are times where he makes reference to some of his earlier books, which seems a sound practice to me.I would clearly give this book 5 stars and recommend it to those interested in this subject matter.

Accurate on NASA, poor research on JFK
This book really has 2 parts: the first is a good summary review of early NASA, and UFOs, who knew and who might've told. Not much new info here, but organized well if you haven't read much about Roswell thru Apollo. The second part involving JFK and Oswald as the lone assassin, is where the book falls apart. Too many other recent books and sources have more accurate details, and Bara simply doesn't know or doesn't care. For example, he ignores any mention of the real sniper rifle, the German Mauser found earlier that day before the Mannlicher Carcano, identified by the Dallas Police. Bara ignores the testimony of the 5 trauma surgeons in the Parkland ER who saw the wounds and flatly concluded the front neck wound was an entry wound prior to extending it into a trach site. Additionally the back sound of JFK was NOT thru & thru tobthe neck as proven by multiple autopsy documents. In fact, Gerald Ford "moved" the back wound during the phony Warren report to no avail. Bara ignores pictures proving the Oswald in Mexico was not Oswald, and that the CIA was using an old tricknof running a "double"Both in Mexico and in Dallas (at the auto dealer and gun range, which Bara mentions). Finally, Bara concludes police office Tippett was the shooter from the Grassy Knoll who was then shot by Oswald. However, files and documents show French assassin & heroin dealer Lucien Sarti was dressed as a cop behind the fence. Tippett could not have been shot by Oswald later, as Oswald had a non functioning revolver, but Tippett's autopsy found 3 Winchester and 1 Remington rifle bullets, matching the brass jackets at the scene, indicating two rifles, two shooters, also corroborated by eye witnesses.Overall, more research was needed, but the portions of the book on our space program and JFK's plan to join with the Russian space program, are done well.

I recommend reading this book
The book is very interesting, and contains classified data that were recently released to the public by Pres. Trump. These data indicate JFK's death was a well-planned conspiracy and named them. I recommend reading this book, it will answer a lot of your questions about JFK's death.

Agree with everything but.......
Mr.Bara wrote a very interesting book. However, saying that LHO shot and killed JFK is totally wrong! GSR tests showed that Oswald NEVER fired a weapon that day. He also was NEVER conclusively seen in that 6th floor window. How he (Mr.Bara) could have missed ALL the research on these two crucial pieces of information is mystifying (at best!). LHO WAS the patsy he said he was as he was set and hung out to dry by that very shadow govt. Mr.Bara talks about!

No Credibility
Mike Bara calls himself a researcher: he is not a good author nor researcher. One could have learned everything in this book from watching moronic shows like; Ancient Aliens and the like.. His facts & conclusions are simplistic and wrong, written for dumbed down idiots who spend to much time watching the boob tube.

A Must Read for JFK Aficionados and Ancient Astronaut Theorists Alike
Although I bought this because of my interest in Ancient Astronaut Theory, it actually impressed me just as much for its insight into shadow government and deep state. I learned lots about JFK and LBJ that I didn't know. Mike Bara knows his stuff. Great read!
