A good thorough book

I have had this book on my wishlist for some time and I purchased it with gift credits from Amazon. It came in the other day and I discovered that it is a lot more basic than I expected. I consider myself an intermediate player. I have taken lessons before and I have a ton of other instructional books. This book seems to cover a lot of the basics that I have already studied. My expectation was that it would be more oriented around Hank's music and his style. That being said however, it looks like a great book to use as a refresher so that I can brush up on things I haven't covered in a while.I like the way he presents the material and it looks like it is laid out in such a manner that it is accessible to beginners as well as more experienced players.I'll update this review after I have spent some time woodshedding with this book.

This is a great book. I have been playing guitar on and off for a while and wanted a book that would take me through the basics again. This was the perfect book for that! The CD's that come with it give the lessons some personality and let you know whether you got the lesson right or not. I considered myself an intermediate player before but this book really helped me round out my skills and give me confidence to tackle the next level. Great stuff!After finishing this book I felt I should point out that there are many typos in the tablature. Some of what Hank plays doesn't match what is written, so I downgraded it to 4 stars. Still a good book with lots of great info.

I might have gotten the wrong book. I wanted Hank's music book, not the beginner's stuff. It may be a great beginning book, but not what I was looking for.

It's ok but why such old fashioned tunes used. A few Shadows riffs would have been better. Like everything else it's a useful aid.
