Great Coffee, Keeps it Reasonably Hot
Update: After three weeks of use, here's what I can tell you. This press has totally replaced my classic Bodum French press, which has been relegated to basement storage. My initial impression that it was harder to clean than the Bodum one was wrong. Actually, it's easier to clean and I never have to worry about breaking it. My annoyance that it didn't keep the coffee as hot as other reviewers promised (whoever said it keeps coffee hot four hours is lying) has totally faded because the coffee is delicious. While it does not keep the coffee hot like a thermos would, it does keep it nice and fresh and hot if you want to make a press and have it on the table throughout a leisurely breakfast while reading the newspaper or whatever. So, overall, I do stand by my bottom line. Great coffee, might not be worth the extra for the double-wall vacuum-sealed, but I can't see going back to my old press again.Original review below:I bought this after reading a NYTimes Wirecutter review of French Presses. I’ve used a classic Bodum press for two decades, but after reading about the potential cholesterol raising effects of unfiltered coffee, was looking for an alternative. I use a Clever for single-cup filtered coffee, but most days I want to brew more than one cup at a time. Enter the Espro. And as long as I was upgrading, why not go all in with the double-wall vacuum insulated model? This could be my leisurely weekend coffee maker.Well, the coffee is great, but the added expense of the double-wall, vacuum insulation is not at all worth it. Kept the coffee moderately hot for one hour. After two hours, it was unpleasantly cold. I thought this would spare me the need to decant into a thermos, thereby saving me some clean up. But since there are so more parts to the filtration system than a typical press, it’s more of a pain to clean up, and doesn’t keep the coffee very hot.Bottom line: Great filtration, but the glass or non vacuum sealer metal versions would suffice. The top of the line version doesn’t deliver on keeping coffee hot long enough to justify the high price tag.

The double filters on this mean you don't need as good a grinder
I bought this along with a super high-quality grinder, and discovered that I kinda only needed one or the other. The mesh filters are fine enough on this that you can get away with a relatively crappy grinder. You can even use regular pre-ground coffee, and it'll come out okay. With a normal glass/single layer mesh press, using regular grounds will result in actual sludge in the bottom of your cup. With this unit, the Costco bulk ground coffee will leave some fines in your cup, but will work fine otherwise; the second layer of screening is good enough to keep the sludge at bay.If, on the other hand, you have a high quality, consistent grinder, you can buy a less expensive press and do fine. That said, pairing this with a good grinder makes absolutely *splendid* coffee. You don't necessarily need both, but I doubt you'll regret the purchase. The double filters can also help you calibrate your grinder; if the inner filter is getting many grounds on it, you probably want a slightly coarser grind. This unit is tall and skinny, and does better with a tall sink for cleaning. If you're trying to rinse it out upstairs in a standard bathroom sink, you should be able to do it, but it'll take a little maneuvering. The actual cleaning process is very easy, although you do have to clean two little baskets instead of one. It takes a wee bit longer than cleaning a standard press. The build quality seems good.Oh, one other note: because of the filter design, you end up with some coffee left in the bottom that you can't drink. You're using a more water than normal, so it takes more grounds than you're probably expecting. Further, French presses need more grounds for the same amount of coffee, because they're ground coarse and use a shorter brewing time. (normally 4 minutes.) I use six tablespoons of coffee per batch, and I get two 16-ounce cups out of it. With my older drip brewer, it took only four tablespoons. In exchange, the quality is *vastly* better, you can use almost any grounds, and after you've plunged it, the coffee stays excellent for at least an hour. Seems well worth it to me, but if your coffee budget is small, the higher consumption might be something to consider.

Perfect coffee, and stays warm
The look of this French press is great! I wanted something sleek that fit with my new kettle, creating just a little morning vibe. So first impressions were solid - a nice feel in the texture and color, clean and simple design, and a nice match to other appliances and kitchen decor. Moving from those first visuals, the interior makes making coffee or tea super easy, with minimum water and demarcations for max coffee or max tea. I frankly thought the filter part was a bit of a gimmick, but after brewing my first coffee I was really surprised at how little, remarkably little, grounds were at the bottom of my cup, and how perfectly rounded the coffee taste. Usually I also feel a bit of subtext pressure to drink coffee quickly when using a French press, since it can go cold fairly quickly - that is where this design especially shined! I could pour out an amount I wanted and just let the rest sit until I was ready for more. The last cup was as smooth as the first - and was still hot to enjoy! In a hurry up world it’s nice sometimes to take a moment and just enjoy…

Makes great french press coffee as advertised
Aside from making great coffee, it really looks chic with its polished silver look. It's not as light as my previous glass french press but I did break that one. It's also not as easy to clean as the glass french press because of the dual filter, with one attached to the rod. But those are small matters compared to how beautiful it looks and how solid the stainless steel material is. I just love looking at it. Hope it does last forever.

Yes, there is a difference!
I have to admit that I waited a long time to review this, almost as much time as it took me to actually buy it after having it in my cart. I already had a French press. This is next level. The filter is so amazing that the coffee is significantly better than my cheaper stainless press. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's worth it. Really.

Next level taste from French Press
I've had Bodums for years and kept breaking the flask and having to replace it. Also even with using my own grinder there was a fair amount of sediment in the coffee that left a bitter taste in the coffee which left a fairly large amount of coffee at sub par taste. After reading reviews on the Espro double micro filters I decided to take a leap and invest in the Espro 7.Huge improvement in taste with little bitterness and the double wall keeps things warm for much longer. It is pricey but the quality of the Espro itself is exceptional and will produce a great tasting brew for years to come.

High quality cafetière
Sadly, I found this cafetière wastes coffee because the fine filter stops the last of the brew from pouring out.I say sadly because, in all other respects, this is an excellent product. Very fine filter, excellent tight fitting lid, excellent insulation. But, alas, this wasn’t quite the right size for me.

Heerlijke koffie zonder drab
