My favorite substrate for the $!! My plants grow beautifully and it stays a nice rich black. Easy to clean and to plant in! So much cheaper than the alternatives!!

High quality for plants
The best I've found for plants. I've tried numerous substrates ,I never vacuum, detritus,and uneaten food works its way down for biological fertilizer for roots. I've only ever used the black type. Keep and utilize the extra biological liquid in the bag. No rinse required. Draw back it's very expensive but it's an exceptional product.

Wow I did a lot of rinsing, little by little and the sand turned my tank cloudy but filter changing, water change and time it came clear and I love it. Looks really good, very happy after that work. No fish died.
