The Dewalt DXGN14000 is designed with the professional contractor or rental operator in mind. This unit is powered by a 688cc Honda GX630 electric start OHV engine with auto shut off for low oil. The premium alternator provides low harmonic distortion. The large 10 gallon tank with fuel gauge runs up to 8 hours at 50-percent load. Features include a … (al the same as the others until you get to what is included) The wheel kit and battery are included.

Support for this product is horrible.
First unit arrived with loose bolts and scratches. Did get a replacement, but the replacement is missing the key to be able to start. Called the number for product support for Generac and was given the run around and told to call Dewalt. Dewalt states that it is a Generac product. This is getting very frustrating.

So far so good. Using the generator to put in a lot of steel pipe fence so powering a 220 wire feed welder chop saw and grinders. Meeting all expectations. Only down side was the battery was completely dead, but they sent a new one as a replacement.

Good parts, poorly put together.
I bought this based on the Dewalt name and the Honda engine. As said before, good job Honda. The bad: So imagine this as a cube, the gas fill is on the top, engine controls are on one side, exhaust is on one side, generator controls are on one side, oil drain is on one side. So there's no way you can use this without having to have it sitting in the open with all sides accessible. Next, after almost exactly 60 hours of runtime (spaced over a few years) it suddenly started putting out 90v. Fortunately I check the voltage with a killawatt meter every time I start the genny, since it doesn't have a voltage gauge of its own. I shut it down before it could cause damage to anything and checked it out. There are two capacitors in the electrics box, one is Russian the other Romanian. Both cheap, plastic bodied capacitors. One exploded. This is too new, too expensive, and too under stressed to justify blowing a capacitor this big. Replaced them both with higher quality metal body units, let's see if they last longer. The good: the Honda engine is awesome. Strong, fairly quiet and pretty good on fuel. The gen head is also nice, the combo not even showing significant voltage drop when using it to run a 200a stick welder. In short, once again an example of craptastic outsourcing where good components are thrown together haphazardly with no thought to integration

Dewalt brand is great
Dewalt is usually built well but not this one! They make their fuel tanks with cheap metal that rusts quick. engine is okay but the thin metal tank rusts quickly, flakes off and falls through the fuel line into the engine. using ethanol free gas does not solve this problem as well. For some reason, Dewalt wanted to go cheapo build quality on their Generators. Worst than made in China stuff.

Quality
The best generator I have ever owned. Runs our hunting camp. Runs 2 refrig, 4 heat pumps( tonnage 1,1,2,3), 2 hot water heaters, and a deep well water pump. Also equip shelter compressor 1,000 ft from unit and storage unit. 2 microwaves coffee pot and crock pot, 8 ceiling fans and over 40 lights. Also runs dishwasher, dryer, and washing machine. Over2,000 hoursof use. Change oil every 150 hours( 6 days) and use synthetic oil. The best of 6 generators!!!!

A workhorse of a machine
I have used 10,000-watt honda generators in the past with 13HP Honda engines and been pleased with the results. For half the price of the Honda brand machines, this has a 20HP Honda engine 14,000 watts and a way more robust frame for construction use. I would rebuy this machine any day over the Honda brand ones, very pleased with it.

Great unit but poor design by dewalt
The unit is sound & with the honda engine ........ Its a no-brainer. Now then, Dewalt's design of the fuel tank resulted in covering up the oil fill port of the engine. So much so that if you dont have a tube connected to a funnel, you will NEVER fill the engine with oil. Just poor design on Dewalts part especially with unit which cost as much as this one. So in closing, great job honda with a fantastic engine. Dewalt, stick to making tools & stay away from generator design....my grandmother could design it better.
