Two CD set containing a trio of albums from the R&B band. Robinsongs are delighted to announce three fantastic Midnight Star albums on this release: No Parking On The Dance Floor, Planetary Invasion and Headlines plus bonus tracks. No Parking On The Dance Floor features the two Smash R&B Hits 'Freak-A-Zoid' and 'Wet My Whistle' and the single 'No Parking (On The Dancefloor'. The album was certified double platinum in America. Originally released in 1984, Planetary Invasion includes the #1 R&B single 'Operator' which topped the chart for an amazing five weeks. The album also featured the single 'Body Snatchers'. Finally, we include the album Headlines, again packed with R&B Hits 'Midas Touch' and 'Headlines' (both Top 10 records). Also included is 'Engine No. 9' which just failed to crack the Top 10, stalling at #11. 'Midas Touch' also made the Top Ten here in the U. K. This package features 7" versions of the hit singles as bonus tracks. Package contains sleeve notes by Christian John Wikane, a New York based writer and music essayist and contributing Editor for PopMatters.

Not Full Length Versions From Original Albums (!)
Well, I guess I got what I paid for. These three-for-one CD album sets tend to cut corners sometimes. "Playmates" is one of my favorites from their terrific "No Parking On The Dancefloor Album." The version here is faced around 4:00-4:05. The original vinyl 7" single version (1984) was 4:25. Too bad the extended vocal from the 12" B-Side of "Operator" (a/k/a "Vocal/LP Version) isn't featured here. That version is 5:28. The album version/single version fades on the best part -- which is a terrific keyboard solo towards the end. Disappointed. Will stick to my vinyl copy for now. Some fun 7" single versions included on disc two of this set but even some of the SINGLE versions are faded early. "Wet My Whistle" clocks in at 3:26 and begins fading at around 3:15. The original vinyl 7" of this is 3:58. Ugh. Early fades like this are my pet peeve.

Sound quality was very good. This is an iconic album from the 80’s dance funk scene. Glad to see it was reissued with recent remastering.

Pour tout amateur du genre on ne présente plus Midnight Stars, on retrouve ici trois albums majeur du groupe avec leurs hits incontournables. Des albums axé sur la période du début des années 80, donc plus marqué Electro-funk, avec un son différent de ce qui se faisait dans le genre jusqu'à la fin des années 70.Donc, si il n'y a rien a redire sur ces trois albums regroupé sur deux cds, ce qu'il faut absolument préciser, c'est la qualité remarquable de l'audio de ces deux cd's, j'étais plutôt enclin a pensé que la qualité sonore de ce genre de compilation était plutôt moyenne, mais la j'ai été réellement étonné par la qualité sonore ... pour le prix demandé, il n'y a pas à hésiter.
