Our Guy in Russia [Guy Martin] [DVD] [2018]

I have been a fan of this true eccentric for years, and admire his enthusiasm and determination in tackling all sorts of challenges. As always the programmes show a side of a country about which we know very little, but brings out the best in all the people whom he meets. The three programmes were not nearly long enough to show such diverse cultures and environments. Maybe subtitles would help as Guy speaks so quickly, but I have become used to that over the years of his adventures. I have learnt so much about the mining for diamonds, the manufacture of mega trucks, the daring exploits of The Night Wolves, but above, my lasting memory will be of the elderly lady living near Chernobyl. What a character!

Bought this as a follow-on gift to the Guy Martin Proper Box Set. Also added the Guy Martin D-Day Landing and WW1 Tank discs for good measure. These provide some of the material not included in the box set and should keep an addict happy for several more hours.

If you’re a Guy Martin fan it’s great!My dad is house bound and watches it at least once a week - wouldn’t recommend everyone does that but nice find. It’s probably the only one he’s not seen before!

The scenery is great.The DVD would have been a whole lot better without Guy Martin.This DVD is called 'Our Guy in Russia': why is so much of it about the Ukraine? Russia and Ukraine are different countries.I really do object to the off-the-cuff comments that Guy Martin makes to Russians and Ukrainians. Some of those comments are garbled and incomprehensible even to a native English speaker.I wish that I had not wasted money on buying this DVD.

Yet another great dvd from Guy Martin, he always gets the best out of the people he meets, and he loves to get to places that are well off the beaten track,
