e-Flame USA Aspen Freestanding Electric Fireplace Stove - 3-D Log and Fire Effect (Black)

2 yr update: Well, winter is here and we are living temporarily in a 600 sq ft poorly insulated condo, literally on the edge of a lake. When the wind blows, the papers on my desk rattle. We pulled out this little fireplace and put it on low. It does not combat the wind but when the wind dies down, we are cozy on the low setting even with temperatures in the 20s outside. I am amazed.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I cannot praise this unit highly enough. It is cute and efficient. I feel safe with pets around it. The red color is downright fun. We have a 12' x 14' den that it brings to a sauna-like temperature in about 30 minutes. Typically we turn it on low for about an hour and then flip the heater off and leave the light glowing for ambiance. We had a larger electric fireplace previously and this one seems to be far more efficient. Given that our den is small, it sits in front of a sometime-used closet door. I put felt on the feet so we can slide it around easily so access to the door is simple. It is light weight and can easily be moved to other locations around the house. Please do take note of the physical size. If you are looking for a "statement fireplace" for your room, you might be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a cute heat source for a small space, you will be delighted to find such an ideal package of ambiance, cuteness and efficiency.

Turns out Amazon refereed me to the wrong manufacture. -- I purchased this Aspen on December 8th. We love the look and a good space heater. But two weeks later a rattling noise started even with the heater part off. Now it's become very loud and is caused by the small motor that rotates the simulated fire reflector bar inside. Yes I looked, I'm a certified electrician and it's way to much trouble to re-pack and return this to Amazon. So I contacted Amazon they offered me help. They first refunded $22.50 for my trouble, nice.Then sent me Aspen contact info. But the Aspen sight and number they sent me to denies any connection with this fireplace model: http://aspenfireplace.com/products/fireplace-stoves-inserts. So as of now I have a good heater that lights up but on simulated fire due to a defective motor. (Keep reading my update 1/19/16) How do I get a part to get this fixed?Well Aspen is NOT THE MANUFACTURE e-Flame is. They found out my problem and were shocked I was given wrong info. They were very supportive even willing to send me another unit to be sure I'm properly supported. I am very impressed and would recommend them any time. So I changed star rating from 2 star to 4. This is a great little electric fireplace with a realistic looking flame. For its size it throws off a lot of heat especially on the high setting.The only negative I have is when you have to attach the legs. The legs have a piece that you slip into the "slot" and then use two screws to secure the leg. I found it difficult to get the legs into the slot. I finally figured you have to sort of slide it into the slot and then place the screws into their holes to make sure the leg was in there properly. When you read the instructions it tells you to place it into the slot; it makes it seems easy like all you have to do is slide it in. Not so (at least not for us). I don't even see the need to slide this part into the slot; once you use the 2 screws the leg is secured.

This little thing is perfect. I had never bought anything like this before, so I am pleasantly surprised. It is all I had hoped for.It is sturdy, safe on carpet and cool to the touch, so you can put something on top of it if you like. I would not use it on high/shag carpet, as the heat fan below gets warm, out of necessity. On normal carpet, it's no problem whatsoever.It gives off a good amount of heat. The flames are realistic and so is the glow of the logs. The white color with the metal touches is very pretty.I would definitely buy this again.*Assembly Tip: Follow directions when it says don't tighten the screws too tight, as they are not supposed to go all the way down. When putting them in, especially the two in the front, push slightly back and out on the legs, rather than straight down. It took me all of 10 minutes to put this together, as it was just the legs.*

My bedroom is always the coolest room in the house, unfortunately, that makes it the coldest room in the winter. Instead of overheating the entire house just to heat my room, I thought I would try this little Aspen Electric Fireplace out. It arrived in the perfect size box and was also boxed within another box from the company. The only thing I had to do was grab a philps and install the 4 little legs. The entire cabinet stays cool to the touch with only the space where the warm air flows through getting hot. It's not likely you would even brush your leg against it when you walk past because the heater vent is set back from the front of the cabinet. There is low and high temp plus the beautiful little faux fireplace, that doesn't put off heat and can run own its own without the heater component. Overall, I'm very happy with my new little fireplace heater. It's small and does exactly what I need it to do AND it looks great in my room.

Looks amazing and puts out plenty of heat. I would have rated 5 stars besides one small detail. When I received the unit it made a loud ticking noise. Reading other reviews I found it was the wheel that makes the flame patterns. I opened up the back of the case and found that 2 of the thin metal strips were hitting the metal cross member inside. I pinpointed these two flaps and trimmed them with scissors. No more ticking noise. and no noticeable effect on the flame pattern. Im sure it didn't come from the factory. It was probably just a byproduct of shipping. But you don't need to return it if this happens to you, I had the unit up and running in 5 minutes despite having to modify the "flame wheel".

I really like this little space heater. It gives off adequate warmth (if desired) and looks great in my room. My only issue was an initial chemical smell which wore off in a week or so. Other than that, I love how it contributes to a cozy atmosphere while still being a sufficient source of heat.
