The Orphanage by the Lake [Miller, Daniel G.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Orphanage by the Lake Review: Great Read - Love the main character and story development. I would recommend Review: Dedicated PI Takes the Case - The Orphanage by the Lake By Daniel G. Miller 4.25 ⭐️ I enjoyed reading The Orphanage by the Lake written by Daniel G. Miller. The story was suspenseful and easy to follow. There were some twists and turns along the way. I definitely wanted to keep reading the entire way through the book. I loved the Female Main Character, Hazel Cho. She was funny, smart, and a little bit quirky. She was the perfect character for her role in the story. We get to follow Cho, who is a Korean Private Investigator, through her case of a missing girl from Upstate New York. We also meet some other characters along the way that each has their own solid personality and purpose in the story. I especially loved the setting focus on minorities in this book. Mostly minority women/girls, but there are a couple of men that are also minorities. If you like crime thrillers, especially ones where it feels like you are helping solve the case as you read, then this book will likely be a good fit for you. I do caution you to look at the trigger warning first to be sure this book is a good fit before you purchase it.

It was good but still a little predictable
This would be a great first time read for someone just entering the psychology crime world. This book is more for someone who does not emerald thriller books all the time or watch TV crime shows. You do not really add everything together until the main character does as well but if you into crime shows then I am just going to say...GO WITH UR FIRST THOUGHT ONLY HALF WAY IN. THE TWIST IS ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD. BUT THEN I THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND IT ADDS UP. REALLY NICE BOOK. I only gave it 3 stars cause I predicted the end and I was pretty much spot on. Due to me watching a lot of TV dramas lol. Other than that it was a good read.

Outstandingly capturing read! You need his book in your collection!
I'm a sucker for a good thriller and purchased this book on a hunch and a whim. I can tell you, that was one of the best spontaneous purchases I've ever made! I am a stay at home mom with a full schedule, and still got this book read in two weeks! I could not put it down! This has been one of the best books I've read. The suspense builds and builds, and just when you think you've figured it out it turns a curve. It will have you thinking, and it made me feel like I was on this adventure with the main character. I found myself gasping out loud, and shushing those around me to dive deeper into this beautifully written story. Very relatable, down to Earth, and then when you finally get to the parts where you find out what happened, it gets deeper still. I cannot say enough about this book, but what it is, is a mouthwatering, suspenseful, thrilling roller coaster of mystery and crime that will leave you wanting more! I can't wait for the next book to come out in July this year!!!

storyline kept me interested
I really enjoyed this book. The dialogue between hazel and Andrew was terrible though. It didn't seem like it could have been a real convo.

I found the main character a little challenging and hard to relate to, but the developing story was intriguing. Worth persisting and was a really good read.
