Farmer John's Tractor

A lovely story with beautiful illustrations
My nearly three year old loves it and wants it over and over again and I enjoy looking at it. He is into the subject of rescue (loves fire engines and fireman stories) so this is just the thing. The rhyming is great for this age group.

Candlewick Press poor version of a lovely story
I read an original version of this book to my little man, which we took from the library. Very cute and engaging for my little boy who is very into his tractors. In the reprinted version I purchased by 'Candlewick Press' , some of the wording had changed from the original and I was not particularly happy with the images and layout. Would not recommend this version if you have ever read the original.

Tractor to the rescue! Rhyming story of an exciting escape
On the farm, Farmer John’s tractor sits rusty in a locked shed. We return to the tractor through the book, as the plot thickens.Rain comes, a flood develops, a car get stranded, a family with children stuck. The tractor stays in the background as a jeep, a tow truck, a fire engine, all to no avail. Will Farmer John come to the rescue with his tractor? In lovely hand-drawn coloured scenes, we watch the action, and finally watch the Farmer go to his shed.My three-year-old loved this, he was worried about the family as vehicle after vehicle succumbed to the waters, and we were both happy to see a satisfying conclusion. With rhyming text and the repetition of the tractor in the shed, it’s a simple but effective bedtime story that gives reassurance.Easy to read aloud, and good to ‘read’ the pictures as well as the words. For ages 2-5.

Well written book.
Purchased this book for my grandson to go along with a toy tractor I sent him. My daughter says he loves the book, likes to look at the pictures and runs over to get his tractor whenever she is reading the book to him. While he is too young to fully comprehend (2 yrs. old) my daughter said he stays interested. She thinks the book is well written and is very happy to add it to his expanding library.

My son loves it
from the same other as "roadwork" and "demolition" this book is another great one in this captivating series. My son loves it, though as parents we wonder why the parents in the book not just take the girls and carry them out of the high water, but that's just us.

We are farmers!
All boys need to have a book about tractors! In rural Pennsylvania our grandson is familiar with farm vehicles and he loves this colorful book.

Our 2 1/2 year old son loves this book
A nice story; the middle could scare some very young ones though. Our son wasn't bothered by the water rescue.
