Fantastic Book Which Gives a Perfect Overview from A to Z About Satellite Communication. Highly Recommended Mainly for Beginners
--- Date of the Review: 01-06-2012 ---I read the Second Edition of this book (publication year was 1998) and loved the way that the author structured the flow of the chapters. Book covers variety of topics such as the reason of satellite communication, signals, noise, orbits of satellites, launch vehicles, economics of satellite communication, antennas, internal elements of satellites and so on.Author is mainly giving qualitative information rather than quantitative (using mathematical equations) descriptions when explaining the concepts. Therefore there is a lot of lack of mathematical description. Very simple book to understand and very easy to follow the chapters one by one.Ideal if you are new to the subject of Satellite Communication. At the end of the book you will have a really good qualitative idea about satellite communication. However I recommend you to read another more mathematically-oriented textbook on satellite communication which is essential to truly understand this subject. Also more up-to-date edition will be beneficial too since new vehicles are launched since 1998 and there has been some changes in the uses of satellites such as GPS.Great investment.ThanksMr. Engin Sicimogullari (MEng Electronic Engineering Graduate)

Not a bad textbook
I bought this book for a college course, and was pleased with it. It's pretty dense on the subject matter, but doesn't drag on and on to make you use the book as a sleep aid.
