Assenmacher Specialty Tools 3242 Locking Pin

I bought this tool to do a timing belt on a 2.8l VW Passat. I wanted to do the job right so I bought all the tools. When I got it and wanted to put it in though I was unable to reach the location on the engine where it needed to be installed. It was one of those scenarios where you can see it but you will never get your hand in there. Which is typical of lots of VW repairs. I maybe could have got it in there with a 2 foot extension and a swivel, but I didn't want to chance opening a can of worms up in a place that I couldn't reach. In the end I got the job done just fine without it. The cam holding tool is a NECESSITY though. I hope this helps someone. At least this tool is cheap enough that I don't feel like I wasted my money.

My son uses the tool and says works as it's designed to. installed in audi 2.7t without a problem. he doesn't know why people are saying that it doesn't thread properly into the locking hole. he installed it with his fingers.
