Advanced Still Air Box with Induction Scalpel Sterilizer for Agar Work, LC Prep, and Mycology – Collapsible SAB for Growing Mushrooms, Fungi, and Mycelium – Includes LED Light and Wire Rack

I believe it’s important to share when I come across an exceptional product - and this Still Air Box definitely deserves it. It’s rare that I feel like I’ve gotten the best value for my money, but this product exceeded my expectations.The quality of the materials is outstanding - sturdy, durable, and built to last. Assembly was easy, and I love that it can be taken down and stored when needed. The integrated induction sterilizer is a game-changer, tool sterilization is safe, fast, and efficient without the need for a flame. The LED lighting and clear plastic ensure perfect visibility for precise work, and the included wire rack completes the setup.This Still Air Box is incredibly well-designed and works wonderfully. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care went into creating this product. If you’re on the fence, I can confidently say this is the best on the market. Highly recommend - it’s worth every penny. I truly hope this product gets the recognition it deserves - no one else has a design or quality product like this.

The Still Air Box is truly impressive. The plastic is thick yet more transparent than many other “clear” box materials. I love the two sides that open up, making cleaning and loading/unloading a breeze. The stainless steel mesh rack is a great touch, keeping items elevated off the bottom, and the holes are neatly cut with no jagged edges. Plus, the entire setup—including the stainless rack and handles—collapses to just 3 inches tall, making storage very convenient.The induction coil sterilizer is well-designed, and the laser-activated switch is a fantastic feature, removing the need for a manual switch or foot pedal. Unfortunately, induction sterilizers don’t work for needles the way they do for scalpels, but it’s still an excellent feature.One area for improvement would be a more compact, portable sterilizer. The current power supply is hardwired to the sterilizer box and feels a bit bulky. A design with an inline 12V power supply (like those used in laptops) would make the system more portable. Also, using wingnuts instead of hex nuts for attaching the sterilizer would simplify setup.The included LED strip light, while functional, adheres to the inside of the Still Air Box lid, which can be tricky to clean with alcohol. A light mounted on top of the box or with a detachable power connection would be more ideal for ease of maintenance.These are minor critiques, though. The industry is still evolving, and this product represents a significant step forward compared to other options I’ve seen. If you’re into agar work for microbiology, mycology, or microscopy, and need a compact, collapsible setup that moves away from open flame sterilizers, this is a solid choice, especially if space is limited.

The Trippy TEK Advanced Still Air Box is a decent buy for the money. There are certain features I love about it & others that I really dislike. Overall I’d say it’s a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars but could easily be a 5 star product with some minor tweaks.Pros:- Nice size- Made from sturdy materials- Sides fold nicely (without anything attached)- Compact for storage (the SAB is but additional features are not)- Opens from top or front- Includes induction sterilizer (but it has issues)Cons:- Doesn’t fold properly with the induction sterilizer attached so it has to be unscrewed & removed to store it in the cardboard box that the product came in- The cord from the adhesive light strip prevents proper folding after use & easily gets caught/tangled- The induction sterilizer box attaches to the SAB but the power supply doesn’t, this makes it difficult to fold, carry, or move. Would make more sense to either attach both boxes to the side of the SAB (& package it in a box you can store it in while attached) or make it easier to detach both boxes & their cords from the SAB. One attached & one detached that also can’t be separated from each other makes zero sense & an unnecessary headache.- The cord between the induction sterilizer box & power supply box is too short (makes folding & moving difficult). It’s too short to place the power supply unit on top of the folded SAB. What are we supposed to do with it when it attached to the folded SAB?- The laser trigger that activates the induction sterilizer is temperamental & very difficult to engage when using thinner tools. It was completely unusable with my inoculation loops.- The wire rack included came bent & unusable (other reviewers said the same)Overall I like the box itself, it’s just that the induction sterilizer, power supply, light strip, & wire rack were all poorly thought out or executed in my opinion. I ended up disabling the laser thing that turned the induction sterilizer on/off & installed a foot pedal switch instead so I can manually turn it on/off and use it with my inoculation loops. I also installed a longer pigtail cable with a female connector to the induction sterilizer & purchased a 12V power supply unit for it to plug into. Now the cord is longer & it’s easy to connect/disconnect the induction sterilizer from the power supply unit for storage. Lastly I threw out the wire rack & light strip & used better alternatives that I had at home.This SAB is decent & it’s far superior to the plastic pop-up SABs that are sold online. Now that I’ve modified the induction sterilizer & can manually activate it, the product went from 3.5 stars to 5 stars for me but I did have to spend another $25 to do so. I’d strongly suggest that the manufacturer get rid of the rack & the light strip, they’re completely useless, & instead invest a few dollars into improving the functionality of the induction sterilizer & power supply. Also, packaging the product in a box that it can be stored in with the induction sterilizer still attached would be great as well. I know I’m going to lose the screws if I have to unscrew & detach the induction sterilizer every time I put it back in the box. Overall, I gave the product 4 stars because I think that 3 is too low & it’s still better than the alternatives.

This is a quality hard shelled, still air box. Most are made out of vinyl plastic. This one folds down for easy storage and transportation. It is a breeze to set up and disassemble. This box is essential when working with mycology. This keeps everything clean and sterile with fewer chances of contamination. This is a larger-sized box and can be used for commercial purposes. Everything is hard plastic, so it is easy to clean and wipe down with alcohol. It is on the pricey side, but you are receiving a high-quality still air box.

I have not had the opportunity to set this up yet, but I cannot wait to do so, after seeing the reviews on it. The box is just as described and the fact that it comes with the sterilizer is awesome. One less thing to get, I really want to start eating more mushrooms and replace my meat consumption because where I live it is not very easy to get mushrooms besides the grocery which carries button mushrooms and portobello nothing like the ones I really want to start eating more of.
