Q: Can the Sunflower Bowl be used for slumping glass in a kiln?

I fired this bowl at cone six. That is approximately 1800°F. Glass will melt at various temperatures from 500°F to 1600°F depending on the composition of the glass. I believe this bowl will work for glass slumping. I am not familiar with how to take the melted glass out of the mold once it has cooled off. So, to answer this question I believe that it will work. Good luck!

Q: What type of paint do you use for this?

If you want to fire the piece you can use ceramic paints. It will need three coats to make the colors darker and richer. You can also paint it with acrylic paint. Then, after it dries it can be sprayed with a clear coat gloss to keep the paint from chipping. Acrylics do not need to be fired. If you intend to fire it and use it for food, then a non-toxic clear coat shout be painted over it before firing it. The clear coat should also make it dishwasher safe.
