The rope, anchors, and splices were all fine. The wooden pieces were unfinished, but sanded smooth. This is generally fine, but if you leave this outdoors, it'll quickly become a source for splinters - especially in humid areas. I did take a little umbrage with the rings, however. Generally, when you're going to have humans (even kids) hanging from something, you want to put a little bit more forethought and engineering into it for safeties sake. In the case of rings like these, paying attention to the wood grain is essential, as wood has very little tensile strength between growth rings. Actual gymnast rings are made from laminate wood with grain running different directions on each layer. This makes sure that no matter which way they are facing when someone is hanging on them, there is adequate margin of safety. Since these are a budget item, I understand not using laminate, but in that case, they should have been milled from boards cut from outer rings so that the fibers of the grain run flat across the ring or from heartwood such that the grain and growth rings are concentric to cut. These, however, appear to have been cut from whatever piece of wood could provide enough volume, and the rings are split crosswise by the wood grain.I did test them after hanging, and they held me at 5'7" and 180 pounds with no issues, but I simply don't trust them long term with the safety of kids, so I'l only be using the trapeze bar on a final installation.

I love the concept! I have a daughter who really enjoys playing on the rings at her school, and so getting these, my thought was, to affix them to our backyard tree, near or affixed to the tree house. I was really looking forward to it arriving. However, at first sight, the size of the rings is a little disconcerting. The are smaller than I was expecting. Although my adult hand can fit on it, and even comfortably, the size of the rings is much smaller than the rings at her school and the rings on usual jungle gyms. My daughter, however, is unperturbed. She is fine with using them and determined that they will work fine. She loves to swing on them, use them to climb the tree (the first leg up) and they seem to hold well. I love that they are made from wood and very smooth to the palms of the hands. So, overall, a great addition to the tree house. But just FYI, check the size of the rings to make sure that they will work for you, because they are smaller than the usual ring size.
