Super helpful in separation
My separation and eventual divorce has been amicable, but this helped me see some issues that I wouldn't have been aware of. I'm glad to have read the key parts and saved some money in the process!

Great
This Divorce & Money: Make the Best Financial Decisions During Divorce is an amazing book. I am happily married, but I always see and hear about these scary divorce stories, where the women (normally) are left high and dry with the children (normally) and can barely survive. I love reading so I wanted an informed read on the process of how to protect yourself in the case of a divorce. This book did not disappoint. The table of contents breaks down the chapters well, so if there is something you need to know about quickly you can just go read about it in that chapter. It also, will refer back to other chapters for more information or a better understanding and breakdown. I personally loved this book because of the chapter dealing with the children. I feel like they are normally not fully considered (if at all) in a divorce and this chapter helped the reader break down how much a child/children really do cost, especially in the long run. Just because a child/children turns 18 does not mean they will not cost you. In fact, most children can be on your medical till after 20. That is not including college or other expenses. I feel like the court and some parents do not understand this.

Comprehensive overview of divorce financial considerations
This is the 14th edition of Divorce & Money: Make the Best Financial Decisions During Divorce and I ordered the paperback version. It is a practical guide that is filled with very useful information. It is written by an attorney, who writes it in a clear and straight-forward style. This is not the book where you will find very much specific emotional support, but is a book where you can find concrete examples of pitfalls to avoid and considerations that are easy to forget in the midst of the stress of a divorce. The author suggests to begin by reading the first 2 chapters to understand the perspective that the book is written. After that, the book is divided into sections, like The First 30 Days and also chapters on specific assets like the house. Chapter 12 has some charts you can fill in, such as Income, Expenses, Summary of Liabilities, etc.At more than 500 pages, it covers a lot of valuable information. There are 20 different chapters and each chapter has sections of generally 2-9 pages. There is an 11-page chapter on taxes, a 40-page chapter on retirement benefits, and a 20-page chapter on dividing debt. I like the way it is written so it can be read as smaller sections so that it can be less overwhelming for someone going through an extremely stressful time.

Very informative
Well made book that seems to cover a lot of what you would need to consider in the event of a divorce. I would recommend it to those who are thinking along those lines and want to feel more prepared to put themselves in a place of advantage.
