Budget Travel for the Genius

I took Cynthia Drake’s travel book with me on a rare out-of-state journey recently, figuring I’d enjoy flipping through tips from an expert while I waited at airport gates. This fine writer reeled me in with the first few pages, and I ended up skipping nothing. Yes, Drake’s suggestions are helpful, thorough, and well-organized, but her candor and genuine love of travel make her book a means of rediscovering the thrill of such adventure. Underlying her guidance on frugality is an infectious “joie de vivre.” No matter your age or family stage, you’ll be able to see yourself loving every minute and dollar you invest in travel of any kind. A wonderful read!

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this book on budget travel. My wife and I are empty-nesters now, and are planning a trip to Alaska and, after that, to Europe. The author has a gift for writing in a fun way while delivering an amazing amount of practical information that my wife and I can use, not just on saving money (which I appreciate, of course), but on how to travel, where to stay, and how to enjoy the whole experience. My copy is dog-eared and has yellow sticky notes all over the place.

Such a great resource! The book is full of lots of tips and tricks that help you build your own budget travel philosophy. I've already used some tips from the book to save money on a vacation I'm planning to Seattle this summer. In addition to great advice, the book is full of funny anecdotes from the author's own travels - these stories make the book a pleasure to read.

This is one of the best travel books for the bargain hunter that is available! The author's quick and easy tips are tremendously helpful for those of us who are searching for budget-friendly ways to travel! Using tips in her book, my family of four has been able to save several hundred dollars off of the cost of our annual family vacation. Great read!

Entertaining, smart and relevant! I picked up a lot of great tips and have now passed the book on to my parents. The best part was it felt like I was reading a book for pleasure not for information.Great for families with children--highly recommend!!!
