adidasMen's Terrex Ax4 Gore-tex Hiking Sneaker

Great durable waterproof work shoe.
I needed a waterproof shoe for work. I work in the rain and walk a lot for my job. I used to wear boots but I've been trying out various brands of goretex sneakers over the last few years. I've tried a few different Nikes and they always lost their waterproofing within a couple months. I had luck with Salomon trail shoes but they're way too expensive for a pair of sneakers that will inevitably wear out within a year.I was originally just going to stick with Salomon, but then I noticed these on sale for under fifty dollars. I've never been a huge fan of adidas but for the price I figured it was worth a shot.Initially these shoes are extremely stiff. It takes a week or two of dedication to break them in, like a pair of boots almost. Once they break in though they're as comfortable as any sneakers and are extremely grippy. Almost too grippy. They definitely take some getting used to. However, the goretex lining in these is the highest quality I've ever seen in a sneaker. I wore the soles through before the shoes lost their waterproofing. It really blows me away that a pair of adidas can actually be that durable. I've gotten a full year of use out of these which is a lot for the amount I walk.

Impressive hiking shoe that fits very well
I spend a good amount of my time outdoors, and would consider myself a 'gear nerd'. I already have a pair of Adidas trail running shoes in my gear collection which are much more lightweight than these shoes. These shoes are much more heavy duty. If you are looking for a more roomy, robust hiking shoe that has a stiffer sole with heavy duty large lugs, you won't be disappointed. In my opinion these shoes are built to accommodate a thicker sock. I immediately replaced the insole the shoe came with, with an insole that has better arch support. This upgrade to the insole made this shoe feel much better on my feet. They are roomy but not too much. Overall, I'm very impressed, they fit well and are very, very comfortable. I bought a size 8 in blue and they look and feel very nice. You might also find that you like the insole the shoe came with. Overall, I'm very happy with these shoes and wouldn't hesitate wearing them on the most demanding terrain found anywhere and highly recommend.

These are not Gore-Tex shoes but comfy, solid, perfect for hiking challenging terrains
These are not gore-tex shoes. They are very comfortable and went on a hike to test out some features. I can easily walk over small rocks and don't feel a thing. The continental rubber thread is amazing. Never lost confidence while climbing or descending steep trails. The front toe section is very rugged and looks like it could take a beating. I compared them side by side to my 2 year old Altra Lone Peak 6 which were very comfortable at first but now are wore down to the bone. Although the ad was misleading in saying these are Gore-Tex, these Terrex shoes look like they are built to last but only time will tell. So far I am a happy Hiker!!

Good shoes
I like them, but they are a little narrow for me.

Great shoe
I live these shoes. I'm surprised that they keep producing this model and I hope they don't stop because they are a staple of my wardrobe. I keep one pair in my "Save For Later" and order whichever color is on sale. They are great for the normal price, but they will occasionally dip around $50 and then it feels like I'm robbing someone. Very comfortable, roomy toe box, and nice heel support.

Looks great, ball too tight and not wide enough
Shoe looks great and is made of quality materials, but despite being the right size the shoe is too tight at the ball of the foot. Toe box has ample space so toes aren't squashed, but the end of my 5th lesser metatarsal (pinkie toe) ends up red and irritated from how tight the shoe is at its widest part. Funny thing is its just on my right foot, left foot fits fine. I'm using a shoe stretcher to see if I can stretch the fabric and going on long walks with the dog to try to break them in prior to the travel I purchased these shoes specifically for. Should have entertained buying waterproof sneakers from Columbia or North Face even though they are less fashionable. I'm at an age where comfort over "coolness" matters.too late to return them as I've thrown away the box and have used them, but lesson learned.

I love the style, but?
I love this style of sneaker, but? The 1 negative is that both sneakers appear to have a small manufacturing defect. It appears that the midsole isn't glued properly to the insole and it doesn't meet up entirely, theres a small gap thats visible. Its a small issue in appearance and I hope that it doesn't cause a delamination issue later on, but water/ moisture could eventually become an issue. The positive: these sneakers are very comfortable, i wear a size 8.5 and they fit like a glove, these sneaks are cost-effective and have a great looking silhouette. If the insole holds up, and doesn't delaminate it will be a great set of sneaks to get me through this winter. I gave this pair 3 stars for now, if they hold up I'll bump it up to 4 stars, I can't attest to longevity so I'm being optimistic because I really want them to hold up. I don't see myself giving them a 5 because QC should have caught the laminating issue. Nonetheless, I will update this review accordingly should anything change or not. I made this purchase with my funds no freebies here. Hope this helps.
