My hair used to be happy with supermarket shampoo and conditioner but, now that I'm well into my fifties, I do better with premium brands. I particularly like the Dove pro-age range but found that, though it made my hair silky and strong, it sometimes weighed it down on top. Admittedly I have very thick hair. I read a beauty article which suggested using conditioner BEFORE the shampoo to prevent leaving too much product on the hair. I tried this and it works. Basically, you wet your hair, apply the conditioner and leave it on for a moment (longer if you have dry hair), rinse it out then shampoo and rinse again until the water runs clear. This ensures that your hair is well conditioned but that it also has bounce!
