Since when were B-movies this good?
After a few years of desperatly waiting for a sequel to the sci-fi action romp Starship Troopers i gave up hope that another instalment would be made. But then i heard about this, hero of the federation. Hmm, i began to become interested, and so i read some reviews for the film, most of which said it was really bad; but i still thought they could pull it off. And they didnt half do that: i thought this movie was brilliant if not amazing, it was so different to the first one it was like a breath of fresh air.Considering the film had a fairly low budget and a shooting schedule of 26 days! they really made something special. After watching the animated Roughnecks series i thought it would be a great idea to introduce the bugs that take over people into a movie. Phil Tippet (Good ladd) must have thought this aswell. The only thing i would say was wrong with the film was the opening and closing scenes made to look like the mobile infantry television of the first film, but i understand that they wanted people to get a familiar feel to the first one. This movie is very (very) violent and extremely bloody (not to the extent of Kill Bill though). The gore is great and is well done.Oh there is just so much more i could say about this movie, but by the time you finish reading this i bet your all glad i didnt continue :)Great film, roll on another sequel.

Very average sequel to the hugely enjoyable debut.
I thoroughy enjoyed the first Paul Verhoeven Starship Troopers, but have been left very underwhelmed for the majority of this poor follow up. The acting is both wooden and OTT at times and there is very little enduring about any of the characters. The movie dabbles in the facist/subversive undertones of the original but feels more like an optional add on in this film as opposed to an essential plot device. The script is a bit of a waste as the plot device of 'who's bugged and who's not' could've been executed a lot better and carried the film better a la John Carpenter's 'The Thing.' Sadly, there is little development and time spent on this aspect of the film and it is all so formulaic and dull. At times the film looks like the worst kind of late night, Channel 5 B-Movie, barring the ok looking bugs. However, it is worth taking into account that this was a straight to DVD release and only had a fraction ($7 million I believe??) of the original's budget. For completionist's only. Watch the original twice and save 90 odd minutes of your life!

Half the cast are terrible
Starship Troopers 2 is trash, I can’t believe how bad they got this movie especially compared to the first. The acting is terrible throughout with the exception of the main man Dex, and the plot is ridiculous. The ending is just….. I can’t spoil it, but you are left thinking “why, what’s the point of that”. Missed opportunity to build on what could have been as big as Star Wars.
