Lightweight but very warm. I purchased it for my son who is an avid snowboarder in UTAH. He also wears it while performing his avalanche inspection duties and keeps him comfy without being constrained. Worth the $$$.

Love it! Waterproof, warm & not bulky nor too heavy. Ample room to layer. A little on the long side for shorter users but manageable. Expensive but if u can get it on sale, it's totally worth it.

We’ve had a tough winter in the Midwest this year and even on the coldest and windiest days I’ve worn this thing with just a lite fleece underneath it and been absolutely comfortable. Above 20F with low wind I’ll skip the mid layer. I haven’t worn it as active insulation, but given the pit zips, I’m sure overheating wouldn’t be much of an issue.Even the hood is excellent being it’s well insulated and has a third adjustment to keep it from dipping down over your eyes. Wish that third adjustment was an industry standard.It can be rolled up and secured with a little carabiner from the rear adjustment cord to the hang tag if you think hoods make you look like a doofus.Waterproofing is absolutely what you’d expect from an Arc’teryx Beta line hard shell.The only real obstacle is the price, but it’ll likely be the last heavy winter technical jacket you’ll ever buyBtw. I didn’t go with the down version not only because of the higher cost, but also because it’s bulkier and I was given the impression that it can actually be too warm on some occasions.The synthetic is considered more versatile given mid layers can be worn to increase warmth when necessary.
