Superb watch with a child's strap
I purchased this G-Shock model for three primary reasons: 1) atomic timekeeping, 2) solar charging, and 3) readability. I have found over the years of owning G-Shocks that these are the three most important features to me.Atomic timekeeping means that this is a "set and forget it" timepiece. Solar charging means that I never have to open the watch to replace a battery, keeping it water-tight for the life of the watch. Finally, have you ever noticed how "busy" and crowded some of the G-Shock watch faces are? In some cases, it makes it really difficult for older (not ancient, mind you!) eyes to read the time at a quick glance. This model is a basic, no-nonsense EDC. It doesn't have an altimeter, heart rate monitor, GPS, thermometer, or whatever. The watch I wear doesn't really need those things because I think there are better specialized tools for those jobs anyway. It does have the tools I do need in a watch though like a stopwatch, timer, alarm, day/date, back lighting, military time display, and world time. If you need more in terms of lap timers for swimming and fitness training activities, there may be better options for that. Otherwise, this is a tremendous watch. The atomic function works flawlessly. It actually works while on my wrist. I was up late gaming with one of my sons and I noticed that it was setting the time while I was playing on the PS4! My atomic watches in the past were much more finicky. Those things had to be placed in a particular spot in the house, pointing in a particular direction, the voodoo witch doctor had to shake a chicken foot over it, and then maybe it would pick up the signal. Not anymore! When I received the watch from Amazon, it was completely dead with no charge at all. It appeared to have come directly from the manufacturer and had not been out on display or anything like that. It took a couple of days (it's winter time and cloudy up north right now), but now it's good and charged up. Be advised that it can take a little time to get charged to the "High" level, but once there, these watches tend to hold the charge for a long time with the power save feature active. Give it a good bit of sunshine once every few months and you'll never have a problem. The readability on this watch is excellent. Casio did a nice job of keeping the view uncluttered. Many of the G-Shocks suffer from lots of "stuff" on their faces. The older models suffer from the three-eye syndrome that shrinks the size of the useful information you want to see in lieu of useless little circles that nobody needs or cares about. This watch increases the size of the useful information and uses a white background to increase readability. The obvious thing about this watch, of course, is that it's a G-Shock. It is essentially the toughest mass produced watch in the world. Good luck killing it in the normal course of everyday wear. Among other things, I like to go snorkeling and skin diving on vacation, so this will be going with me for those activities with no worries. If these are good enough for Navy SEALS and law enforcement personnel, they're probably good enough for the rest of us. Go ahead and beat it up. It laughs at you for trying to take it down!I do have one small gripe about the watch, more specifically about the strap. Why does Casio insist on producing the world's toughest ADULT watch and then slap a child-sized strap on the thing? I am an averaged-sized, athletic male (6' 2", 230 lbs.). I have to wear the watch right at the end of the band, so it just barely fits. To be honest, I wish there were just a little more band poking through the holder. I worry about losing it. In short, the band could be longer and more robust. All in all, this is a great watch. Get it, charge it up with some intense sunlight, get it set up (it's easy to do, just read the instructions), and you're good to go.

Always love my G-Shock
I have had the Riseman G-Shock watch for a around 13 years and it's still running strong and I've never had to replace the rechargeable solar battery or any electronic part of the watch. I did replace the band a few years back but that's to be expected for what I've put it through......or for anything in general over time. My son, soon to be 11, finally decided he just had to have my Riseman because it has all the features he seems to think he must have...LOL. Since they don't make the Riseman anymore and for the fact that I no longer really need the barometer/altimeter and other fancy "gadgets" the Riseman offers I wanted to find another G-Shock that has solar rechargeable battery, multi band 6, date/day/time display in a LCD format.....and didn't cost as much as the Riseman cost me back in the day (close to $300). I did a lot of research before buying this watch. I thought I had found it from another vendor (seemed to be the same model number) at a lower price and was about to buy it when I decided to make 100% certain it was the EXACT same model. Glad I did. The cheaper version did not have the multi band 6 option, although both watches looked identical until you look really close and this version has the verbiage "Multi Band 6" at the top. Found this via a YouTuber.....glad I didn't make the mistake of assuming the other version was the same.Although I could have bought my son this watch and kept my Riseman......he was adamant about 2 things.....he really wanted it because I had worn it for all these years even before he was born and it has sentimental value to him......and since he's on a mountain climbing team he really likes having the barometer and other features the Riseman offers for climbs in the mountains. This watch charged up easily, keeps time perfectly and seems to pick up the time signal updates during the night 98 percent of the time. I kinda miss my double band over this single lock band.....but I'll get used to that over time. I like how Casio has changed the backs of their G-Shocks to have a fully enclosed back, as my Riseman only has the rubber facing around the watch "brains" (for a lack of verbiage) so I have always used a flat nail file about every month to scrap around under the rubber flap to get the "gunk" out that has built up over time.Interestingly I paid around $83 for this watch but then within a day it had jumped up to the $129 range.....things that make you go hmmmmmmm. I guess the show "The Social Dilemma" on Netflix makes a good point about how "they", whomever "they" are, are tracking all of us.For the women that are thinking this watch may look a bit too "manly" for you......I'm a 57 year old lady that could care less what others think as long as something makes my life easier and is exactly what I want and suits my needs. Over the past 13 years while wearing the Riseman, which is a little bit bigger overall than this version, I have gotten several compliments on how cool the watch looks....and I have worn it with business attire as well as jeans and a Tshirt......so if the features match your needs don't hesitate to buy this watch....even at the higher price.....it will serve anyone well for decades to come.....and without having to change out the battery....EVER!

Great all around watch for a great price.
This is a great all around watch. It's always accurate and charged. I purchased this to replace the exact same one that I damaged. I had the original watch for almost 10 years with no issues, this includes 2 deployments overseas. I highly recommend this watch for anyone. Extremely easy to setup and will continue after taking a beating (as G-Shocks are built to do).

Zombie Apocalypse Watch Aquired!
This is my zombie apocalypse watch. The solar is awesome, the atomic clock function needs the watch to be in specific places in my Hills of Tennessee home to successfully sync. My only con is that the screen is a bit too small to easily read with these old eyes.

Lives up to the reputation
The G Shock line has been widely known as the toughest, most durable watches made for over 40 years now. That reputation is not lost on this one. Great offering with some really nice features. Was looking for something that would be a no nonsense, low maintenance style watch that is always ready to go. Something in contrast to my mechanical watches that need far more attention. This G Shock has fit the bill perfectly. The tough solar feature means never having to worry about a dead battery and the multiband 6 feature means this watch will always tell perfect time without any help from me. On top of that, you get a calendar, multiple alarms, stopwatch, world timezones and countdown timer. Not to mention the usual durable G Shock resin case that can take a beating, plus 200 meters of water resistance. Great watch, exactly what I was looking for and an amazing value at the current pricepoint.
