I am not a manga or comic artist
I am not a manga or comic artist, but do use glass dip pens and ink. I want to teach myself calligraphy and experimenting with nibs. I used for the 1. first line a fountain pen ink. This is a bent nib. Seemed to work ok. I am used to my glass dip pen which holds lots of ink. This nib here on #1, doesn't hold much ink. #2 again was ok. I used a drawing ink for #2-5. This nib(2) has another added top metal piece to it. I do not know the names of all the nibs and the package was in Chinese so have no clue. #3 seemed like I could only write successfully in one direction. With more pressure I could get a thicker line. #4 this nib seemed to work the best for me. I could write in all directions with no problem. Seemed to hold more ink than the other nibs. #1-4 used the nib holder with the wider circle. #5 used the nib holder with the small circle and is the thinnest nib writer of the 5 nibs.It could be me and my lack of experience with these nibs but this wasn't the easiest set of nibs I have used. I have some calligraphy nibs that use cartridges and a pen holder which have blunt tips in different sizes and can get ink to flow nicely in those. But this set I am reviewing might get smoother over time. Sometimes the nibs just need some time to write smoothly. The nibs seem sturdy. They don't have numbers or names on them so cannot identify the sizes. So I gave it 4 stars, because it could be my lack of knowledge or maybe its a beginner's set??
