Excellent and easy homemade soups
We've tried soup making before and it produces a lot of mess and mixed results - this is just so easy. Put in the cut up ingredients, press the button and you get excellent soup in 20-30 minutes. Makes about 4 big bowls or 6 starter bowls. First soup tried was a leek and potato and totally blows away the 'fresh soups' you can buy in supermarkets. Great texture and much better flavours.Haven't tried it yet for this, but should be great for starters when having people round to dinner as you can just leave it to get on with making the soup while you do other things. My only negative is that it says the provided measuring jug shouldn't go in the dishwasher. The soup maker itself doesn't either, of course, but is very easy to clean out.

I am very happy with this soup maker.
It's lovely to have a nice bowl of warming soup for lunch and I have used this soup maker several times. Filling it up to the maximum level (shown on inside of jug) it makes enough for 4 good sized portions or 5 smaller ones. So far we have just used the puree function, resulting in lovely smooth soup. The soup maker does not come with any recipes, but I probably would not have used them anyway as I like to use what I have available. For example today, I chopped and put in one medium potato, two carrots, one parsnip, one onion, a small leek, a small handful of red split lentils and a stock cube. Topped up to the calibration with water, this made a very tasty soup adding salt and pepper at the end.My one niggle is that I thought I was buying from a British company, but on the label it said that the soup maker was made in China. Also I have noticed some condensation around the top of the jug, so when opening it I have a tea towel ready to dab, to prevent any drops of water getting into the lid connection at the top.

A great device for the price
This is an inexpensive soup maker and I wouldn't change it for a more expensive device. It isn't all singing and all dancing like some of the soup makers but it makes a great bowl of soup. Let's start with the negatives: it doesn't sautée, no recipes included and aesthetically it isn't the best looking. Now for the positives: reasonably priced, basic design, simple to operate, easy to clean, different settings for chunky, blend and pureed soup, makes smoothies and a little noisy but so is any device breaking fruit or veg down to a pulp. The reason for choosing this model was I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a soup maker just incase I didn't use it that much. I was pleasantly surprised with this soup maker and actually like the fact that it is simple to use - just pop the vegetables in with some stock and twenty minutes later a hot delicious soup. I thought not being able to sautée vegetables or meat in the soup maker would annoy me but I like doing it separately as I have greater control over the ingredients, herbs and spices. I do not always sautée but sometimes I like to and it is just as easy to throw everything in the soup maker and just turn on. Some people make soup regularly but I don't, I am an occasional soup maker so that is why I am impressed with the Salter soup maker. As no recipes were included I went online and found hundreds and adapted them to my liking. I haven't used the smoothie option yet but I am sure it will come in handy at a later date. There is a clean option as well which is useful.

soup maker
I like chunky soups freshly made. You first chop the veg and cooked meat to a suitable fineness, add the pre-dissolved and cooled stock up to the marked lower limit, put the lid on, plug in and press the button and the soup is ready in half an hour. You have to listen carefully to the signal when the time is up, and immediately pour out the soup into another vessel. If you delay a few minutes, the suup at the bottom gets burnt, and has to be removed with oven cleaner. (You only make that mistake once.) Pour in some water to keep the interior from drying out until you have time to wash it.It has its limitations. You must prepare a fixed quantity, between the upper and lower limits, but if you make too much for one, as I do, you can always put some in the fridge or freezer. The markings are on the inside of the metal jug so you have to depend on the marked plastic judge to work out the amounts you have to chop up.But like everything else some practice and experiment is needed. There is an excellent little manual with suggested recipes, which give a good idea what you can do,even if you do not follow the exact recipes.

SOUPER STUFF
My first soup maker chosen as i like Salter products and it was reasonably priced. Cant believe how simple it is to use and how quick it makes soup.We made chicken as we had left over chicken i boiled the remains of it up and once cooled picked off the meat discarding all skin and bones ,put the chicken meat ,stock water ,diced onion ,couple of diced potatoes and seasoning in the maker topping it up with milk and hey presto 25 mins later i had a delicious filling soup .Magic.Have purchased ingredients for 3 different soups to try ,can't wait. It makes a good 4 big portions .Came very well packaged with instruction manual and recipes included ,also a years guarantee and the offer of if you register on line you get an extra years guarantee.

Great product, so easy to use
Such an easy way to make wholesome and tasty soup. I have used this about 7 or 8 times already since purchase and it is brilliant. I have relied on the 'puree' mode so far, so unable to comment on the 'chunky' soup making.Importantly for me, it's not only simple to use - prepare the food in small changes not and throw it in the maker - but it's a doddle to clean afterwards. Soup is usually ready in about 20mins after switching on.
