Good quality lamp holders, with a small design flaw
This type of lamp holder used to be the standard light fitting in UK homes, but as there are so many types of light fitting available these days, I guess they are not so common. In the days of hot incandescent bulbs, the skirt on the lamp holder, in particular, would often become brittle and discoloured, so these new B22 (BC) lamp holders should make a good replacement. There’s no problem electrically… the springs are strong, making good contact with the bulb, the screw terminals will accept a wide range of conductor sizes, and the bayonet ring is appropriately sized to accept the bulb. The materials are also of the right quality. My only complaint, is the cord restraint, which is supposed to be hook shaped to contain the wires. Unfortunately, this feature is missing on these lamp holders, with just a small notch, that doesn’t really contain the wires effectively.I would have given these lamp holders a 5-star rating, had it not been for the small design flaw.

Do the job
Although modern LEDs are less of a problem, older incandescent lights have left some of my older pendant fittings frangible, so replacement is due. These are cheap and do the job. The important seating parts are metal - good - and although there are a few errant plastic moulding protrusions these are easy to remove. As another reviewer has noted, the cable restraints aren't notched but for lighter installations (eg paper lanterns) perfectly adequate.Happy.

Part-metal construction, robust and relatively easy to fit
This replaced a pure plastic pendant where the plastic had failed, the third such pendant to do so.As this has the traditional metal insert for the bayonet pins to locate into, I suspect this one will last a lot longer. The wires must be looped around/under the plastic "hooks" inside the fitted to provide strain-relief; this was a bit fiddly and required a slightly longer exposed cable, but it only took a couple of minutes.Tip: when wiring up, use a bit of Blue-Tak or similar to hold the screw-cap up the wire to stop it interfering with your wiring efforts; this made my life a lot easier!Buy again: Yes
