The Rockford Files - Series 1-6 Complete Boxset DVD, 2018

In the history of television there never has, nor will there EVER be, a PI to hold a candle to Jim Rockford! Over the pilot movie, six series (1974-80) and eight tv movies in the 90s, the stories, the characters, the locations, the gold Pontiac Firebird, the quality guest stars (Lauren Bacall, Joseph Cotton, et al), the superb dialogue from some of the finest writers of any era, the theme tune to end all theme tunes and dedicated production crew at the top of their game, all lead by the inimitable James Garner, who did all of his own stunt driving, sans cgi, this series never failed to excel and entertain. This represents a incredible bargain. Miss it at your peril!

I admit I haven't seen everything Mr Garner has done. But everything I have seen has always been entertaining. That comedy about two ex-presidents unfortunately getting involved in crooked antics that he made with Jack Lemon in the 90's was funny and entertaining. His two "Support" movies are good. The Support Your Local Sheriff and the Gunfighter one. I saw the episode Bret Maverick The Lazy Ace. I think it is like the pilot episode to the TV series. Unfortunately they never showed it here in the 90's only the TV movie the show was based on.Anyway enough of that. This box set is all of the 6 seasons of the show. I checked each disc in the box when it arrived. The 8 TV movies that followed on from the show based 15 years down the line are missing. This will probably be through them being made by CBS and the show wasn't. Red tape feels like a scourge at times. If it wasn't for that we'd have the movies in with this set. Which would make it the ultimate set to own you'd think. But in saying that the movies are made in the 90's. The show was the mid to late 70's and finished in 80/81. So the show's atmosphere alone will trump that of all 8 sequel movies combined. Maybe it's best then that they're omitted.If anyone has the Murder, She Wrote box set or the Family Guy first 14 series box set or any other of a similar size. Then you'll know what The Rockford Files box set will look like when it arrives. This along with some other DVD's I've recently bought will help boost my entertainment being indoors these days. I grew up in the 80's which means I have seen a lot of familiar faces in clips for this show. People who went on to do movies or more TV. Even people who have been a bit of a veteran in TV work up to that point.Looking forward to seeing James Garner work his magic in this show like he always did on everything I've seen that he worked on. RIP Mr Garner. You will be missed. JG was part of the old school entertainment circle. Not like a lot of these woke clowns today. Who ruin good Movie and TV ideas with forced representation and forced exclusions to casts.

Hey, Jim Rockford was the man!!I used to be glued to the TV every week to watch Jim..hey i was 10 years old but to me, this was great TV, along with Columbo, the stories were brilliant.Now, in my 50's, these stories have lost none of their magic...Jim is still cool!Great boxset at a good price, buy now!

After getting sick of the absolute rubbish on tv, I invested in some fondly remembered 70's collections. Am I glad I did. It cost me nearly £60.00 and is some of the best money I have ever spent on entertainment tvJames Garner at his very best, with a trailer full of good actors supporting him. The programmes are over 40 years old, but still are as great now as they were when I was young. The storylines are brilliant and in depth with some good twists. Along with other programmes in my collection now from a different time, I can now turn the tv on, at the end of the day and know I am not faced with switching over and over, trying to find something decent to relax with. Well done Rockford.

The profilic and charismatic James Garner as PI Jim Rockford. Tired with the usual bilge the tv has to throw at me I was searching for a box set to binge on during the coming winter months and I was delighted to find The Rockford Files complete series on DVD.. As a child during the 1970s I was raised on this brilliant series at it was my Father's favourite. With its awesome signature tune and equally awesome accompanying music, great stories, scripts and top of the tree acting 'The Rockford Files the complete series' is a truly great and wonderful addition to anyone's DVD collection.

I loved watching Rockford when first broadcast but missed many episodes in pre video and sky box recorder days. Can’t wait to work my way through all of them. Great price via Amazon and a real feast of James Garner at his finest.

Best EVER 70s tv series. Great private eye, good stories . Fantastic actor James Garner. Car chases, humour, what more could you want !! Why cant tv be like this anymore ?

I saw this show when it first came out when I was young. I recently bought the complete serieson DVD and was surprised to know it was even better than I remembered. Great show.
