Not your normal cuppa. Different but you might like it.
I am by no means a tea expert, but I do like to try various teas in addition to the standard breakfast tea I usually drink. This tea comes in a sealed pouch which is resealable with a ziploc type mechanism to keep it fresh. On opening the pouch the tea has a slightly sweet smell. It is unusual, but not unpleasant. I made my first cup with boiling water, 1.5 teaspoons of tea, and a 3 minute brew time. The listing does mention that some people find the tea "fishy". I did detect a mild seafood scent, but nothing overpowering. Tasting it, I found it very reminiscent of a green tea.I then tried it with a bit of milk. This wasn't a great idea for my tastebuds. The smell changed slightly to more of a faint mushroom scent. The tea was a red colour like builder's tea, but with a slight pinkish tone. It looked like very milky drinking chocolate.Back to the version without milk and now I knew what to expect, I think I could appreciate it more. There is a faint smokiness, but not as overpowering as it is in oolong.I'm going to experiment further, perhaps with a bit of sweetener to see what that brings out. This definitely isn't a "one note" tea, and as the listing says, that might not be for everyone. I think I could find myself enjoying this as an occasional drink when green tea isn't doing it for me and I need some extra layers.

Interesting and different leaf tea
I like to try different types of loose leaf tea and this Pu-Erh was one I have not had before. It is a very interesting tea. Interesting in a good way that is.The leaves are pretty big so I used a small teapot. The measure is 1 to 1.5 teaspoons per cup. After about 5 minutes I had a medium colour brew., which I think is how it should be drunk. If left for longer a much darker brew will develop. It is quite clear and not at all cloudy. This tea is usually drunk black and I found that quite refreshing. I did try adding a little milk and found that was more than acceptable. The dry leaves do have a faintly fishy smell which is not appetising but I could not detect it in the brewed tea. It does have a distinctive and subtle flavour with a very slight after taste of mushrooms. I enjoyed it a lot. I would tend to keep it for when I want something a little different. It is said to make a good iced tea. For me I need a stronger tasting tea for that but it was pleasant enough and has enough sweetness to not need added sugar. The longer it stands brewing, the stronger the brew will be. I think you could probably get an acceptable second brew from the leaves. It comes in a zip sealable bag with a shelf live up to 2 years.Worth a try.

mild
I like my tea, and often make a cup for my morning break and never refuse the chance to try something different. It was rather mild to what I normally drink, and not a very strong flavour. I did not experience any of the reported fishy tastes.I will only drink this occasionally as it did not really as flavourful as I like.

Intriguing! I'm Still Deciding With This One
Pu-erh is something of an acquired taste it seems, and a bit like Marmite - it tends to polarise opinion. For me, it's a little bit fishy, which is a common reaction. I have tried rinsing and re-steeping, and the equatic overtones do diminish steadily as the leaf is re-steeped. As is common with high quality large leaf teas, each additional steeping reveals new and unique layers of flavour. I find the process a fascinating journey, and one best taken mindfully, in order to appreciate the tea fully. If all you are used to is dunking a bag of Yorkshire tea and chucking it in the bin after making your cuppa, this can be a bit of a culture shock. It's worth trying though, and very rewarding. The dry leaf is sweet smelling, earthy and floral. The profile continues on steeping, with woody notes, autumn leaf, and the previously mentioned hint of fishy flavours. It's really unlike anything else, due no doubt to the extensive ageing process. It's certainly a very complex and intriguing tea, and one that I might, possibly, grow to like, as my experience of it develops. It will be interesting to see what happens, especially when I recall that the first time I tried beer I thought it disgusting! Opinions can certainly change. New experiences are always worth pursuing, and exploration is fun, even when you aren't sure at first. I think it's worth giving this tea a go.

Unappealing due to its bland flavour
The flavour of this loose leaf tea is disappointingly faint.I'm a fan of gently flavoured teas and coffees, and herbal teas are usually my go-to, but this particular one fails to make an impression. It could be my palate, but my husband couldn't detect much of the tea's taste either, so it appears to be, unfortunately, lacking in the way of flavour. While the tea has a nice colour to it, drinking it is more like sipping on some coloured water than indulging in a nice cup of tea.I am, unfortunately, not very impressed with this tea.

Fishy
I have tried probably 5 teas from this same company, and they are all fishy, I do not recommend buying this, I'm not sure if it is supposed to be fishy, but I cannot recommend anyone trying it.Bad weak tea taste, with a big hit of fish on the nose.

Similar to black tea
I love making loose tea. Trying new tea excite me. This didn’t blow me away, only because it wasn’t far off from black tea. It’s not a bad thing. It’s a nice alternative. Instructions is printed on the pack, 1.5 teaspoons for 3-5 minutes of brewing. I stuck to 3 minutes. Found any longer and it became bitter. I usually had half a teaspoon of honey to it. Helps if it’s bitter.

Rich, full bodied and very strong black tea
Too strong for me using a normal brewing method so I am instead using the 20-30 second steep method instead.Brewed like that it's quite nice, possibly an acquired taste but less so than if brewed using a steep time measured in minutes.Unlike my last experience of this type of tea I can see potential and will likely persevere and find out one way or another if this is a tea I could prefer/seek out.Brewed as 'weak' as I am doing it it's only a little stronger than a strong builders tea, but with a tad more complex, darker, taste. Not sure if I like it, but not convinced that I don't, yet.
