Disappointed that story has changed
Great story, but originally contained European references that have been changed and made the story less appealing.

captivating, simple story
This is a lovely book, with a fairly simple storyline which together with the great illustrations become unexpectedly compelling - 3 kids play pretend chasing away dragons and monsters, and the expressions on the imagined monsters' faces are so sweet and surprising. The dragon who the toddler (with pacifier in mouth) is "attacking" looks lovingly tolerant and quite protective. Later in the story, the shadow of the mom and dad look like a dragon to the last kid left playing in the twilight. It's just a few sweet story, our family has thoroughly enjoyed it. Great from birth (we have the board book) up through age 6 or 7 - we've used it as a learning-reading book too, though it's not for the very start of the process as the text isn't set up for that.

This is a really sweet book. Perfect for what I needed for my grandson who wanted a kings crown for his 5th birthday.

My sons favorite book for over a year!
This book is an integral part in our calm down routine. We originally got it through the imagination library. We loved it so much, that after a year of daily abuse by a 1.5-2.5 year old that we bought this. The rhyming flow of the book is very soothing. The watercolor illustrations are beautiful and soothing, but still keep the attention of my LO! Love, love, love this book!

Wonderful book for the 3-6 year old crowd
I purchased this book for my 3 year-old grandson who has developed a fascination with dragons through his older brother's interest in all things knights. As soon as he opened it and saw the picture on the cover he wanted to read it and then again and again and so on. His mother told me that his older brother was reading it to him the other night. The text is simple and combines enough humor so that the adult who is reading it is entertained also. Most importantly it is a story about children having fun using their imagination and after a long day of taking care of beasts and dragons return to the comfort of loving parents. Beautiful illustrations complete this wonderful story.

Great story for little boys
This is one of my son’s favorite stories! I bought it to replace his destroyed paperback copy. What I didn’t realize was that it’s UK version. He doesn’t seem to mind though.

Kids Love
Both my 4 year old and 1.5 year old love this book. I don't know if they are drawn to the pictures or story or both, but it's a much-requested story in our house.

Simply wonderful
Perfect as a bedtime story for the 2-5 age group. Also a lovely source of inspiration for dragon themed role play and den building in an EYFS setting. Would strongly recommend.
