I researched this question after my bottle arrived because it was so disconcerting to me. That was several years ago, but if memory serves correctly, I was told it’s due to the natural amount of lead in the soil that some of the ingredients are grown in. Any product if sold in CA must contain that warning even due to naturally occurring lead.
