THE ART OF “THE TALE OF THE PRINCESS KAGUYA (VO JAPONAIS) Paperback – January 15, 2014

This is a beautiful mook (magazine+book) that is very elegant looking and great for the coffee table. Wonderful artwork and images taken from this extraordinary and epic anime film. It is completely in Japanese but is a great way to study and observe the immense amount of detail that went into making this masterpiece, Highly recommended for an enthusiast.

Beautiful book, wonderful illustrations. I loved the movie too. I think it is the best animated movie of all times. Text is in Japanese but even if you do not read Japanese, there is enough art in the book to be worth it.

I only gave this three stars instead of four because I know some might want deeper insight into the film with words, and even if you are a Japanese speaker/reader, you probably won't get that. There are barely any words to speak of.It hardly matters, there's more than enough insight into the Blu-ray bonus features which is by far the best home video U.S. release of any Studio Ghibli film to date. I bought this book out of loyalty to the movie, and I got much more than I was expecting! Fell in LOVE. Finding images of pages online I was lead to believe it was just a book full of screenshots from the movie-- and it is, mostly-- Background art sends you back to a haunting yet magical scene of the film, shows little of the CGI elements, and we get to see rough sketches of the different characters in ways we don't see in-film. And also, there's a collection of three posters in the back of the book-- I WAS BLOWN AWAY!I don't sense an English-Language version coming anytime soon since they released one for Wind Rises before the movie came here. So this may be your only chance to get it and I can't imagine many left to buy.
