good looking knife staying sharp
This piece is just as pretty as they show it to be. It seems to be holding its edge, as I have a tendency to get a little lazy with knife maintenance/sharpening. Using it to cook for myself, one month now, so that's not a lot, I know. The heel of the knife is rounded off so no worries about hitting that with your fingers and getting cut. I personally can note that not all knives are like that. Yes, I have one that is sharp right there, and it's a brand name knife, too. This is a good knife for me, feels good in hand, holding a good sharp edge, very pretty. The box it arrives in is quite nice, magnetic closure, so that can easily be kept for storage along with the protective sheath that it comes with.

Far from being an aficionado on culinary knives, I am familiar with the features and elements I want for daily use. My price point is at a moderate βbest price.β Requirements included standard common length of eight inches, solid, thin, and sharp blade. The blade requires a slight curve to rock chop with ability. Adequate clearance under the handle to the cutting surface to accommodate pull or push slicing. The knife should be balanced and at a weight that is efficient to cut through hard, solid vegetables/fruits with ease. The handle must have a comfortable grip. There should be a space at the base of the blade and handle for a secure pinch hold. Scrutinizing the pictures and reading the product description of the Professional Japanese Chef Knife 8" by Diamosteel, I was hopeful that I found my knife.This is my vindication for earlier purchases discarded to find the right one. This knife is perfect for me. That it is stunningly attractive is a bonus.
