High-Protein Shakes: Strength-Building Recipes for Everyday Health

Not just for body builders
Thank goodness for this book. My husband is undergoing medical treatment and has lost his taste buds. I was told he needs to get between 80-100 grams of protein per day to keep his strength up and I turned to this book because I was running out of ideas. This book has a wealth of choices and we have tried several. At this point, they are pretty much all he is eating and he is enjoying them. Some of the recipes need to have more fruit added, which is no big deal. We tried one recipe that used tofu as the protein base and in that recipe it seems the tofu neutralized the taste of the fruit. So next time I make it, I'll use yogurt instead. At the same time, I also have a rapidly growing son who is an athlete, and I look forward to making some of these recipes for him, as an alternative to energy drinks or shakes that use junky protein powder. The recipes in this book use wholesome, real ingredients, some superfoods like hemp seeds and spirulina, and when protein powder is called for, I use a vegan pea powder. All in all, I'm so grateful for the recipes in this book.

Provides protein / carbs / calories estimates
Best smoothie book ever. I love that each recipe provides an approximate estimation of the amount of protein, carbs and calories. This alone makes it my go-to over a few others I have.
