Rexel ActiVita Air Cleaner

Works well enough, but too noisy for night use unfortunately. It is a well designed small air purifier and would work fine in a study or work environment but not I think in a bedroom.

I have given this four stars. This is an early review of the product, so it may be worth the 5 stars. We have 6 cats and a dog in our house and I have found that having this running in the main room where we sit has had me sneezing a little bit less. It's hard to tell exactly how beneficial one of these units is, as the effects are a bit 'intangible' and difficult to measure. It's too early to tell for sure, but it seems to be having a positive effect. I may move it upstairs for bedroom use. It is quiet enough to not disturb me.The unit is very quiet and is powered by a USB lead into a plug adaptor.

While this air cleaner is a nice small sleek design I really don't think it does much. To use, you simple plug it in and here is where the biggest plus is: you can plug it in using the usual plug OR a USB. I plugged the cleaner into my laptop using the USB cable. The product is already fitted with a filter (you need to replace this every 6 months) so it really is a case of plug in, turn on.The cleaner is meant to be make the air...well, cleaner but I didn't notice any difference at all and when I checked the filter it didn't seem to have caught anything, no dust or residue build up. The product does make a noise when its in operation but I wouldn't say its too loud, its easily manageable.

My youngest son is an asthmatic who also has a number of allergies so we've tried to create a space within his bedroom that is a dust and allergen free as we can. Adding this Rexel Air Cleaner into the mix should aid that aim of filtering the air in his room and helping his breathing. You've two options to fire it up; either via a USB charger or standard plug socket. There is a replaceable filter - recommended replacement is every 6 months although it will obviously depend on usage. The unit is also reasonably quiet in operation and running at 2.5W per hour is inexpensive to run - 400 hours to burn a KW of electric; 40 ten hour nights for 20p.!It's been in operation for over a month now in our son's room on a night and we have noticed a big difference on a morning with his breathing, he's certainly not as wheezy as he used to be so the unit does appear to be doing it's job.

A very nice, small air cleaner.My office is a small and, some would say, poky affair. It is under the stairs and has no natural air movement. After a few days working in here the fragrance (especially if I have been visited by my 2 cats) can be a bit heavy.This small unit is pretty good at moving the air around and making the space feel a bit more fresh. It is fairly quiet (I have used noisier air con and fan units in hotels) but I am not certain I could sleep through it.It is easy to use:- plug into a USB socket or a wall mounted USB mains plug and switch on. I keep it plugged into a spare USB on my laptop and it runs all day without a problem.The on/off button is in the middle of the top. If you press it twice it sets the fan running for 8 hours, then stops on its own.There is a filter on the bottom of the unit, which is easy to remove with a slight twist.I like to add a couple of drops of Lavender oil to the filter to get the full on 'holiday in France' effect, which is a far cry from the 'holiday in a cat basket' effect that I was used to.I like it.

I like this air purifier. It is pleasing to look at, and can sit quite unobtrusively in any small space. It is simple to operate; a single press on the on/off button turns it on; a double press turns it on for eight hours, and a third press turns it off again.It definitely does clean up the air in a decent sized room in a fairly short period of time. However, you need to bear in mind that it is the air which is being cleaned. If you have a pet's bed, for example, that will still give off its own odour. Although the purifier will deal with it while turned on, the smell will return as soon as the unit is turned off. So this is NOT a substitute for cleaning items which have developed a bit of a stink.I have found that the purifier definitely lowers the temperature in a room, which is fine in the summer, but at the tail end of a Scottish winter, this was an unwelcome side-effect. As some other reviewers have stated, it does produce a constant humming noise. I found that could be ignored easily enough while reading or watching TV, but I don't think I would be able to fall asleep through it.I'm perfectly happy with it, and would have given five stars if it had been just a little quieter while in action.

I've had this in my bedroom for a while. I suffer from dust related allergies including sneezing, constant nose running and constant eye irritation as well as Asthma, but so far, I haven't noticed any immediate difference - it may take longer for it to really make a large difference - I haven't sneezed in a few hours but then that may just be my allergy medications. It doesn't seem to prevent smoke from really causing me any ill effects, as my father in the next room insists on smoking in the house and the smoke seeping under the door causes me breathlessness and throat issues - I'm not experiencing any better breathing while this is running, so I don't think it's quite powerful to clean the air from smoke.I did notice the other reviewer for the product mentioned this being a noisy machine but I found it almost virtually silent, it isn't any noisier than a small fan. Perhaps that unit is malfunctioning, as I find it so quiet, especially when it's on the other side of the room it isn't audible at all. It's very easy to set up and relatively small - it doesn't take up much room. There's an obvious bright blue light on the top that is constant when running - the thing is powered via a USB wire that is supplied with a wall plug adaptor, both three-prong and two prong adaption clips.
