It seems silly to review an O/S map, they are standard fare and practically beyond reproach. I'm only doing this review because if you're looking for Lake Vyrnwy then I'd recommend this map above the smaller-scale red map because walking tracks are better marked. The RSPB have some interesting free open hides around the lake, the trails are excellent, and the waterfall walk at the far end away from the dam is a nice one. It was nice not to be done for car parking charges and also to have so many helpful RSPB people around who didn't want money.You can hire bicycles in the cafe just down from the dam (expensive I felt) and there is boat/canoe hire a little further along the near bank but we didn't do either- high wind when we were there made paddling a canoe tiring and in my opinion dangerous, and as to bikes, we were pleased not to have had to pedal round the perimeter road - it is largely obstructed by trees one side and steep forested slopes the other, so the first few kilometres will seem like all of them if your reason is to try to get views off two wheels. A car is a quicker way to get to all the trail starts and all the various places of interest, and the greater definition of this map is a help once you get there. Steve Riches, Northampton, UK.
