Touching story
Thomas and Sophie share an unlikely bond working together in a WW2 Parisian hospital, their love blooming so sweetly against the turbulent backdrop. I loved how the story unfolded, the stakes were clear, and the characters adorable. I also loved how the song was integrated in the story in the end. I looked it up and it spoke volumes of the author and her well-researched and poetic writing. Excellent!

Good story told with too many words
This is a novella reminiscent of Suite Française. Above all it is a romance with too much flowery language. The underlying story, of the German doctor and the French nurse on opposing sides, who fall in love and are confronted with their moral centers in a time of war had the potential to have been a longer book. Although the story was enjoyable and made one question the concept of ‘collaborator’, had there been more focus on substance it could have been better. The glut of overblown vocabulary got in the way and overshadowed everything the author was trying to express.Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the opportunity to read and review a published copy .

Sweet
Really enjoyed this sweet and heart-warming romance set in World War 2 Paris. Nicely laid out plot, enough tension, and fantastic atmosphere. A highly recommended feel-good story.

interesting love story
To me, this seems like it could be a movie. A small movie, but still an entertaining one, nevertheless. The subject matter of having the German soldier and the Parisian woman is very interesting. This is during the Vichy government and I find that an interesting in time in France’s history.

Forbidden Love
When two people who fall in love shouldn’t, there are serious consequences, especially when the two in question are from Germany and France, and we’re in WW2.A short read based in a hospital in France. The story deserves to be fleshed out more in order for the reader to become thoroughly connected with the characters and, in my opinion, to have an ending less abrupt.

extremely scenic
extremely scenicSparse prose let the reader fill in the blanksAllows it all to play out like a movie which for such a short Novella is a great achievement !

It wasn't for me.
I loved the idea of the story and the cover, but it was too drawn out for me to enjoy.

love story across social differences
Love story that touches on a difficult period in history through war time. I enjoyed this story and liked the characters, the historical setting felt very real, it was just over too quickly, short but enjoyable read.
