I got these universal CTO 5 micron carbon filters by PUREPLUS to use in my 10" x 4.5" housing. This 2-pack of PUREPLUS 5 Micron 10" x 4.5" coconut shell activated carbon and KDF whole house water filters seem to be doing a very good job on my well water.The combination of the activated carbon and KDF (kinetic degradation fluxion) removes most heavy metals and other contaminates. I have iron in my well water, so I will update my review after it has been in service for a couple of months.These filters were a perfect fit in Pentek Big Blue 10" whole house water filter housing.These filters have a solid quality build design.I recommend this 2-pack PUREPLUS 5 Micron 10" x 4.5" coconut shell activated carbon and KDF whole house water filters.

I'm on a private well and have used only pleated filters in my Pentair Pentek "Big Blue" whole-house filter. A 30-micron did okay filtering out sand ahead of the water softener but didn't touch the iron in our water. I tried another pleated filter rated at 1-micron and claimed to filter out iron as well, but it didn't.This filter is not pleated paper and while it doesn't specifically say anything about iron, I'll give it a try. It is much heavier and denser than a pleated paper filter, so I have high hopes.This review will need updating after the filter has been in use for a while.

I have had this installed one week and so far the sulfur smell in my water is gone. The water pressure hasn’t dropped either. It is doing a great job. It fits my filter holder perfectly.

I have been using whole house filters all my adult life and every house or building I have owned has had a water filter system installed.A quick search on water contaminates (city or well water) will reveal some pretty scary facts.I wouldn't be without a whole house water filter system.These carbon filters from PUREPLUS do an admirable job at minimizing all the nasty crud coming into your house through the water lines.These are well made and because it's just me in the house with a visitor every now and then, last between 8-9 months before needing to be changed. Larger families will get an easy 6 months of use from these filters.Worth it? Absolutely! I 100% recommend these.

This Carbon Block filter works exactly like it is supposed to. It traps contaminants and gives you pure water.I use this as a final stage in a multi-stage filter system... For a first stage I use either a Pleated Sediment Water Filter or else a Foam Sediment Pre-Filter. Both work well to trap the very large particles to save this filter to work on the smaller contaminants.The filters are well made, fit perfectly, and work great.

My filter was due to be changed so I ordered these. I replaced the one under my kitchen sink in a few minutes then ran cold water through it for about 3 minutes. I grabbed a glass and the Chlorine smell and taste were gone again! What more can you ask for from a filter? These are great.

Got these for my whole home system. I use a sediment first then carbon into salt. These filters are exactly what I was looking for and remove the nasty smell from my water source. I expect these filters to last me several months as my house uses around 2k gallons of filtered water monthly though we change filters every 6 months. Easy to install and fit perfectly in my Culligan. Definitely recommend!
