Wow! A life well lived. A gift to us all.
This grifted, humble, brilliant man is, and should be, an inspiration to anyone who wishes to practice science for the greater good.Seemingly a regular guy, but truly an American hero. He has been the right guy in the right place for over 50 years. I envy the Georgetown students who will benefit from his next act.Young students, study his words and acts, and listen well. This book describes a remarkable journey of hard work, integrity, courage and empathy that we all would benefit from trying to emulate. The book is remarkably inspiring and a pretty fun read.

A worthwhile read
So many memoirs are a waste of time, but Dr. Fauci's memoir is engaging, it captures important events in public health history, and provides a unique perspective on both people and events that helped shape the late 20th and early 21st century. This is well written and an important read for everyone.

Thoroughly enjoyed!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! What a brilliant scientist, doctor, and public servant! The fact that Fauci has successfully helped the United States through various deadly viruses and pandemic, under 7 Administrations, is a testament to his brilliance and dedication as a public servant. I enjoyed reading about his upbringing and family history. And, as he chronicled his life experiences as a brilliant scientist, it was simply captivating. This book helps to understand the grueling world that scientists endure to solve health problems that threaten human existence. The chapter on the Covid-19 pandemic was very eyeing. So much excellence information in that chapter and the reality on how the government made the pandemic a political fiasco amidst lives being lost, coupled with the poor health communication because the various governmental agencies grappled with effective communication/ messaging amidst the struggle to control the spread of the virus. Then, the mis- disinformation that affected communication during the Covid-19 pandemic was definitely a struggle for this brilliant scientist. I am a communication practitioner/journalist by trade, and the social media mis- disinformation definitely drove me nuts, far less a brilliant scientist/public servant working tirelessly to get us out of a global pandemic. I respect and appreciate Dr. Fauci for helping save lives!Although lots of medical terminology you may not understand, this is an excellent book, with actual news events and research studies to support the experiences of this brilliant doctor. I definitely recommend reading this book!I would give this book 10 stars if I could.

Highly recommended reading
What an amazing story of service and sacrifice. I did not want to put it down. After seeing so much of Dr Fauci on television, I could almost hear the words in his actual voice. I felt like he was sitting down with me to share his life’s story. Written apolitically and in great detail, Remarkable…

ON CALL: A Doctor’s Journey in Public Service by Anthony Fauci, M.D. is the autobiography of the most interesting public health doctor/scientist who has served this country for many decades. Stories from his personal life and friendships, his dedication to medicine and public health, and his attempt to remain politically neutral while having his and his families’ lives threatened are all interwoven in a timeline that covers many of the epidemics that have plagued the world in the last sixty years.I was especially interested in reading about his time working to protect the public from both HIV/AIDs and Covid, two terrible infectious diseases that affected many friends and made me fearful for family. His writing about his personal life is entertaining and I found the entire book fascinating, even though it is in certain places heavy with the science of statistical trials, microbiology and immunology which I did slightly slide through, but he is a man of science, and I am sure other students of public health, medicine and science will find it more important and enlightening than I did. This is an autobiography of a truly dedicated, compassionate, and brilliant public servant that is worth reading. Thank you for your service, Dr. Fauci.

The Truth
Learn the truth about how outbreaks and epidemics are handled behind the scenes. Dr. Fauci throughout his career has overcome the adversities of prejudice, discrimination and incompetence to quietly, forcefully and effectively lead his nation and thus the world through the threats and disasters caused by the repeated appearances of new pathogens. This is an amazing book written by an amazing man.

Fascinating and Educational
I really enjoyed this book. I am retired with a medical background. Even though I am Canadian, I found Dr. Fauci's media appearances during COVID to be of great comfort. I was also an instructor. Although not part of the official curriculum for my Biology classes, I am glad I taught my students about viruses. I always ended: "It's not if, but when we will have a pandemic". The best defense against a future pandemic is an educated public. That begins NOW. I hope this book is just the beginning of that part of educating the public. The cell theory needs to be updated, because that is why viruses are not included in Biology curriculum. (Biology is about living organisms. Viruses are not living.) I would have referenced this book as reading material for my students.
