The search for a comfortable boot has finally ended. Having tried a couple of other brands of boots and suffered with terrible blisters I decided to bite the bullet and try the Borneo.Straight away I could feel the difference. Great padding around the heal and ankles with plenty of support.After a few short walks of around 6 miles they now feel like slippers with excellent grip and are totally waterproof. They are superbly built boots. If you have any doubts because of the price when compared to cheaper boots, just buy these you really won't regret it.

Borneo 2 from Meindl is a rugged but extremely comfortable hiking boot that is comfortable out of the box. The leather is strong, so it will need break in time, but unlike some of the double stitched old school models, the time is measured in days, perhaps, rather than weeks. Leather lining is far better than Gore-tex, so this is a hiking boot that can be worn during the summer. I like taking care of my footwear, so treating it with BearGuard (made in Maine) with beeswax and bear fat, gives it water proofing while still allowing the beautiful leather to breath. The rubber sole is strong, and the ring around the boot helps with extra wet areas hiking. The two tone brown makes for a nice looking boot. My wife and I have matching Meindls and like them with jeans, for even casual walking. Menial has consistently great quality.

I have worn Meindl Walking Boots for many years. Always a comfortable fit for me and beautifully made. I particularly like the leather lining as opposed to goretex.
