Almost daily I get notifications that it did not seal correctly. It also hasn’t been sending me notifications when it is empty. The good thing is even if it doesn’t seal correctly it will still dispense at the scheduled times. It has been able to dispense both Purina Proplan Large Breed Adult and Puppy foods, to give you an idea of the size of kibble it can work with it.

This isn't my first "automatic feeder," so I have some experience with how they work, and I have to say that of the various versions I've tried out, this one is easily the best.When I saw this item listed, I thought about how previous feeders have been. Some have had Wi-Fi capability and I could "feed" my dog from the app while I'm away. Some had no Wi-Fi, but instead had extensive and elaborate feeding schedules that could be customized. Some had both of those things, but (the hardware) failed after a few weeks. Some had fewer features, but worked reliably. Finding a reliable feeder with all of the previously mentioned features? Well, I haven't had that happen until this one.What attracted me to this particular feeder was the claim that the food is kept in a vacuum-sealed container, and that air is removed regularly to maintain the food's freshness. My dog eats dry food as a supplemental snack more than as an actual meal. In fact, unless she's rebelling against her wet food (for reasons beyond my comprehension), she rarely does more than pick at her kibble. That's why I wanted to try out this feeder. I don't know that my dog cares much about whether or not her dry food is stale, but it's a pet peeve of mine, and if I won't eat it, I don't think my dog should have to either.Upon receiving the package, I was surprised at how large the unit is. My dog is about 11 lbs. She's tiny. This feeder towers over her like a small apartment building! And the food bowl is gigantic. Not big enough to bather her in it, but about twice the size of previous feeders' bowls. When I first unboxed it, my initial reaction was "Ok, this is way too big" and I figured I would try it out for the purposes of completing a valid review, and then I'd box it up. However, now that I've had it set up for a while and it's being used regularly, the size isn't as obtrusive as I originally thought. Maybe I'm just used to it, but I think it's more that I like the feeder so much that I don't care that it's really too large of a feeder for my dog or that it barely fits in the space in the kitchen where the feeder has taken up residence.This feeder seems to be very well assembled, and from unboxing to being fully operational, I can't say I've felt like anything about the device is "cheap." It seems very high tech, but also user-friendly, and the app is pretty intuitive. Maybe it's because I've used feeder apps previously, but I think it's just that the app isn't unnecessarily confusing - it's pretty straightforward and the learning curve is practically a straight line.PROS:- Setup was reasonably simple.- The vacuum-sealed compartment is keeping an entire bag of dry food fresh for my pup.- The app is user-friendly and setting up the feeding schedule is reasonably intuitive.- The ability to remotely send fresh dry food into my dog's bowl when I'm running late is fantastic.CONS:-Notificaiton/Spam:You'll probably want to adjust the notification settings in the app to avoid getting spammed with updates about every individual action. I allowed notifications for "all" at first, but turned that off after 24 hours because I got tired of seeing that the vacuum sealing function executed successfully. It was fine at first and it was kind of cool to get the updates, but once I knew it was working, the messages just became annoying, lol.- Size:The device (and its capacity) is large, so if your pet is an 11-lb pup like mine, this particular unit may be overkill to a degree. That being said, my 11-lb pup has a couple of months' worth of dry food that the feeder is keeping fresh, so hey, at least that cuts down on refilling.- Price:The price is the only factor I would consider a deterrent when it comes to this product by PETLIBRO. That being said, I think this may fall into the category of "you get what you pay for" more than I would have originally thought. Because this device *is* high tech, and because this device *is* also mechanical, there are numerous factors to consider about performance and reliability. In the end though, the real question for me is "does it work?" I can happily say yes, this feeder does work. And so long as it continues working, I feel this device is worth the higher price tag.My final takeaway is that I believe this is the highest quality automatic pet feeder I have had the opportunity to try out, and despite its higher retail price, I feel this is a quality device. This feeder will not only keep your pet's (dry) food fresh longer, it will offer the convenience of automation and remote control (via app) that really can't be beaten.

And so minorly fussy that if it wasn't such a big purchase I wouldn't take a star off.By fussy I'm talking about the air pump and potential clogs. The air pump alone I wouldn't have mentioned if not for the clogging as it's just a matter of resetting the top if it happens. Easy to fix and it isn't a repeating issue once it's firmly seated. The jamming is what surprises me, I'm using this for cats so the kibble is MUCH smaller than what it suggests. In the dispenser's defense I do add some powdered supplements which may slow down the movement of the kibble and that has been an issue in other automatic feeders.It also has a voice that announces whenever the pump is drawing out air, I need to search around and see if there's a way to turn that off.All in all I REALLY like this thing and those little complaints shouldn't deter you in my opinion. Given the cost they needed to be factored in, in my opinion.
