Fun
This is a fun party game that has a very tiny learning curve, but once you get it going it's very easy and fun

Fun and encourages creativity
I played this a couple of times with five others and loved it. One of the most enjoyable things (in my opinion) is that it really encourages creativity. Many word-based games hem you in with constraints that limit creativity--things like time constraints or particular arrangements of letter tiles. This game, however, really encourages you to think of a multitude of ways to describe a particular noun. Your descriptions must be particular enough for your teammates to identify the words they correspond to (which they see), but not too similar and obvious because you want to throw off the opposing team--you want to prevent them from seeing a pattern in the clues you and your teammates give.Since Codenames is very popular right now and is a similar game, I'll go ahead and compare the two. Decrypto is the better game for younger players, in my opinion. With Codenames, the 9-year-old and 13-year-old in the family often struggle to give a good clue that identifies more than one word at a time. In Decrypto, the challenge for the younger players is to not be too obvious with their clues. However, because each team member more frequently takes an active role in giving clues than is the case with Codenames, the older team members can help mitigate the effects of a younger player's obvious clues by giving more obscure clues when it is their turn to provide them. So on the whole I would say Decrypto may be the better family game. I also think that the pace is better with Decrypto than with Codenames which can really get hung up at times while the majority of players are waiting (boring) on the codemasters to figure out the clues to give. That doesn't seem to happen so much with Decrypto. Also, in Codenames you're trying to figure out connections that link a few words. This can encourage creativity, yes, but it's also a big constraint that stands between you and your teammates communicating to each other correctly and winning the game. I personally find Decrypto to be more fun and to feel less like you're being hampered by constraints. The overall feel for me with Decrypto is of being creative and elusive. And Decrypto has the added plus of incorporating a very fun code-cracking element which Codenames lacks.I will say that two of my family members did not really like the game and that they probably prefer Codenames. They either struggled with the elusive factor (it isn't enough to give a clue that is spot-on with the word--you have to dance around the word sometimes), or were irritated when their teammates did not see the pattern that they were trying to convey (their clues were too vague). But the latter happens in Codenames as well. And the former--well, that elusive factor is part of what I love about Decrypto.A few extra comments:The instructions were a bit confusing, but that's because the game play is not terribly structured but rather somewhat fluid (easy to figure out as you play). The components were fine, not flimsy, and I don't foresee them breaking any time soon unless someone really handles them roughly.I can imagine that cat games would happen not infrequently with well-matched teams. I don't know whether that would take any of the fun out of it or not.One last observation:You can sometimes see a pattern in clues the other team gives, and identify them with the wrong word/concept. This was very interesting to me because I have studied science in college and am aware that sometimes the clues/facts/data can produce a pattern that results in the formation of a theory that pretty well explains the data but which is nevertheless still wrong. So if you see that happening in your Decrypto game, it's a really instructive thing to point out to any younger players you may be playing with.Overall, I do recommend this game, even if you already own and enjoy Codenames.

Beats out Codenames!
I decided to get this game because we have a group of friends that get together about once a month to play games and we ALWAYS end up playing Codenames. This game, to me, blows Codenames away! Each team is given four words that will remain in the same order the whole game. Your team can see your words, but the other team cannot. You get a card that tells you three numbers (1-4) and you are trying to get your team to guess that code by giving them a clue about each of those words. Example: if your words are apple, ball, cat, door and your code is 1-2-4, you could say "fruit, soccer, knob." The trick is that everyone hears your clues. So the other team is trying to figure out what the code is, too. Because your words don't change and you can't give the same clue twice, the next round gives them more information about the same words. So if your next code was 1-3-4, you might say "tree, whiskers, front." The other team can connect tree and fruit, and maybe even figure out front and knob, and since whiskers doesn't match soccer, they might be able to guess that your code is 1-3-4. If they break your code twice they win. However, if your team doesn't get your code twice because you were too out there, your team loses!I didn't look for a YouTube video of how to play, but I'd suggest seeing if there is one. It's one of those games that is simple, but it's hard to read/explain. But once you get it, you're golden. While it's similar to Codenames, there are a few things I like better: 1. The clue giver rotates each round. It's not one person having to give all the clues the entire game. That not only relieves some pressure, but it helps allow everyone to feel more included. It also makes it more fun to see different minds working!2. Play moves faster than codenames because when the other team finishes writing down their clues your team has a timer for one minute to finish. Maybe we play codenames wrong, but it can sometimes seem forever between clues. This game was seriously an immediate new favorite of the entire group. We had also tried trapwords by gamewright and while that one was fun, we definitely preferred this one. GET THIS GAME! You will not be disappointed!

One of the best party games ever, great strategy and team game
When you first come across this game, the rules may not seem super interesting. But once you begin, the stakes get higher and higher and the game gets pretty tense. You have to be super creative and tactical when cracking these clues. It's overall easy to learn, but hard to master. Each game presents new circumstances, so you'll never be bored! Great way to bond with friends. So fun!

Geniaaal!!
Muy buen juego, interactivo, ejercita la deducción y el trabajo en equipo. Está en inglés pero con que alguien sepa inglés en cada equipo y haga una traducción rápida de las palabras... no pierde lo divertido, se puede jugar igual.

Really good stuff
Quality materials, and really fun to play. It's a little like Codenames, but arguably better. It's got a lot more strategy than what you may think initially.
